I always wanted the gliders as a kid. I remember them being very hard to find in stores. I think they were only available for that one year. The gliders were featured prominantly in the early cartoons, so I was pissed that I could never get my hands on them back in the day. I have seen them at my local comic shop a couple of times, but they are usually beat-up and still pricey.

I had the falcon glider. Very FIRST piece of g.i.joe I ever had. And of course we flew them on the first day out behind my grandparents house. We'll just say it had clear plastic tape on board by days end. The glider is long gone, but I still have the pilot figure. I really do want to find one of these again someday. They are a bit pricey on evilbay.

I had both as a kid, flew them a lot, still have both pilots (even though the Viper pilot is pretty scuffed up) Gliders didnt survive my childhood....about the only toys from GI Joe that didnt.

I'm surprised noone is making some type of repros. There are so many kinds of foam and plastic to get ones hands on, and these are a simple pattern. Tempted to use the cnc machine at work out of plexi or aluminum. Would be too heavy to fly, but would look nice.

Yes this all looks awesome I saw a beyond minty mint boxed glider at NYCC, at Toys and Toons booth, I am pretty sure they have a website. It was really cool.
Would the 1990s gliders be considered gliders or is that something we dont talk about here. Because I have really fond memories of those. As a really dumb kid I used to fly them into the ceiling fan to watch them crash out and I would use it as a start to what ever plot I was working on as a kid.
