Love it!!! Brings back so many memories of countless hours of writing out the reasons why I deserved to have an aircraft carrier in my bedroom. Even then my parents knew that my small army of joes was Just but a small step toward a safer Canada.

Man I love this stuff, when I was little I would spend hours looking through my grandparents old Christmas catalogs, they kept them all back then so it was fun to see what I had and what I needed to look for through out the years, awesome.
Does anyone know more about that Golobulous? I remember that pick from way back when and have seen it around over the years but are there any protos out there or samples or however something like that would make into a collection? I'd love to see pics of that sitting in a display case somewhere. There's certain "grails" as far any toy line is concerned but I would assume that would be a big one. |

I nostalgia'd hard. I used to spend hours looking at these.
What's really eye-opening are the prices of some of these. The Skystriker was $25 back in the day, but Hasbro gets us a new one over 25 years later only $10 more? Not bad, I say. Could we get a Night Ravel next year for under $50? |

Check out Golobulus and Mercer!! I never noticed it when I was a kid, but now I like to check out the details on each figure, some were prototypes I guess, and identify the differences between the figure in the image and the one released.

Great thread, thanks for posting. I think Sears deserves some props for setting the imagination going back in the day with these catalogs. You see a flyer/catalog today, the figures and vehicles are shot against a white background typically, very boring. These catalogs are like works of art with the presentation of the toys. The Wish book was definately the Christmas bible back then. He-man was my favorite I must admit, but the Joes and SW were a close second/third. I think we all do our best as adult collectors to recreate those years, but I dont think it measures up most of the time.
