it will be pricey, but, you can just build a box out of 5 pieces of plexi and trim the sides with some 1x1 pine., and put the flagg in it. like i said , it will be pricey for the plexi, though. most likely would be cheaper to use glass rather plexi. i had a 4x4 sheet of 1/4 inch thick plexi cut, and it cost me like a buck 50.. that shit was expensive.
so for three 7 ft or few inches longer, and like two and a half ft side pieces for the ends, that shit will be very expensive. the pine would be the cheapest part. but it would keep it safe and dustless, so the money would be money well spent.. |

it doesn't have to be too pricey. craigslist a glass dinning room table for the top part. They made a ton of those in the 1980's and 1990's> I got mine for free. (8' table) Then any hardware store will sell glass for $10 a sheet, to make the side pieces. As far as the wood choice, I wouldn't go with pine, it's milled early often, and can/should shrink over time. I would pick a denser wood.

i just don't think using a flagg as a table would be a smart thing to do, i think having it inside a see through box would be the way to go. either way, whatever the type of wood or glass or plexi, would be the way to display it.. then it can be used as a table.. |

I don't use it as a coffee table but I do lay on it in the pool to get a tan. And sometimes I use it as a step stool to reach the stuff on the top shelf in the cabinet. And occasionally I'll prop open a door with it. And if the cutting board is dirty, I'll chop up some veggies on it. But as a coffee table...never. I wouldn't want it to get ruined.
