I agree, this is valuable. I am looking forward to the final product - multiple pics from multiple angles if possible.
Congrats and great work!

I have been working on my Defiant for about six months and boy has it been a trip. Driving for hours to meet other collectors who will end up being great resources & friends. The hunt is the worst and the best part, this forum and it's members are great the help and insight is invaluable. Thanks guys! I will start posting pics of my Defiant soon as I start cleaning it up.

Hey guys does anyone know the best way to replace the booster swivel guns? You know the ones that are broken on every booster. Just looking for some insight before I dive in.

Both mine are broken off, I have glued the only one I had back on. It seems strong, but I would like to replace them both sinc I scored a set from PaintBall Viper in Canada. Mine seem frozen solid probebly why they broke. Is there a way to clean the socket out to aid in popping out the old one?

Ok guys here is an update on what I have had to do and how I did it.
Ok first the booster swivel guns. I took the booster completely apart and found that the sockets had been glued in to the booster shell. I gently separated the seem of the shell with a very small hobby screw driver. Went with the seem like a wedg until the glue poped loose. Then used the screw driver to separate the sockets from the booster. I found that the ball had gotten pulled almost out of the socket and actually got stuck so a quick tap knocked it loose in the socket so I could pop it out with needle nose pliers. I then re assembled the booster and put the sockets back in with a dab of glue. They have little ears on them that act like a key way so you can only put them in one way and then twist them to kinda lock them in place until the glue sets. Then pop in the new swivel gun I hope this helps as I know that anyone who owns a Defiant has at least one broken swivel gun. |

Replacing the Defiant boom section of the crane,
I had to take the defiant apart and remove the interior floor panel. Turn the floor panel over and look into the base of the crane you will see the grey shaft of the boom with a small tab plus some factory glue. I assume they never expected this to get broken anyway I had to take a small hobby flat head screw driver and drive it into the glue joint like a wedg to seperate the glue. After separating the glue you will be able to twist the sections free, they will still be attached by that small tab but able to rotate. Depress the small tab and pull the base off of the boom. Nothin to it and nothing broken now to find a new boom arm. Hope this helps |
