I got a Moray at Goodwill. I wanted to get parts to it so I ended up getting another on eBay. I was surprised to find that it had differences. One has clips holding the top to the hull near the missle launchers. That one also has thicker clips near the bow & the drivers seats. See attachments. Is this a well known varient? Is either of them worth more. I don't need both but will take the parts to further complete the one I keep.

i was just reading about this exact thing in lee's toy review. there were all sorts of little variations i never knew about, like two paint schemes for copperhead's helmet and two completely different zarana head sculpts.

Here in the UK the toy was made in Ireland. The quality of the plastic was, dare I say it higher. The parts that were grey (Guns, hatches etc..) were all made out of a harder plastic that didn't bend as much. Unfortunately all these years later the effect is that the UK toys seem to be a lot more brittle. I have a really minty boxed Moray that has the USA side guns as I couldn't find (Yet) both intact. Also the plastic over here was darker.

The variations were running changes made to correct issues that people were having with them.. mainly breakage of the main body and top. The wider/thicker clips are from the later run.
There really isn't a different in price, as like you most people didn't know there were any variations and thus one hasn't deemed to be more valuable.

You'll also note that on the "roof" over the driver's side there is a small peg or post. On the Variant with no clips by the missile box it will be squared off, or a "Right Cylinder". On the variant that has the wider clips and clips by the missile box it will be rounded off.
