I hope I can get some help here, as I'm new to Joe collecting and I've been picking-up mostly PoC with a few Roc figures/vehicles as and when I find them.
Today however I got my first 25th Anniversary figure (PoC repaints aside) in the form of Pilot Scarlett. What always puts me off the earlier Joes is that they often have day-glo outfits or seem a little cartoony (yes, I know...) but she's not too bad and - plasticy-looking green weapons aside - looks OK on my display shelf with the other Joes. Are there any others I should be looking for that won't stick-out too badly among my Roc/Poc collection? Thanks in advance for your suggestions/comments.

That Scarlett was actually a homage to the Argentina figure called Glenda. So it was actually a surprise to most fans and a welcome addition.
As for other 25th figures that stood out.. it depends on what you mean by stands out.. if you are referring to standing out due to colors or due to them not looking as realistic as the POC line.. 25th was basically a homage to the ARAH line of figures.. so they were as close if not exactly like the original figures of the 80's and 90's.

Sorry, my wording was confusing there: by ''stand outs'' I meant ''good ones'' rather than standing-out due to their colouring. If they are all a bit too like the originals, that's fine. My interest was just piqued by Scarlett's slightly more subdued tones...

Knock yourself out. Also look at 2007 and 2009 (before Rise of Cobra). Notables to me: BAT, Eel, Mutt, Hall of Heroes figures as a whole, and many to most of the Comic Packs. Vehicles: Rattler, Vamp, Conquest, Stinger, Sting Raider, FANG, and Ghost Hawk.

The 25th figures are certainly "simpler" than the POC ones. They are homages to the 80's, but I think they work fine with POC. As for standouts:
- Shockblast - Airborne (if you don't like the 25th coloring, get the ROC vehicle pack. They call him Rollbar, but it's the same figure. - Resolute Duke - M.A.S.S. Device Lady Jaye - General Hawk - Beachhead - Outback - EELS - Paraviper (ROC) - TRU Firefly (ROC) - Comic Pack Firefly - Alley Viper (although if you don't like the colors, stick with the POC version) - Cobra Officer - Cobra Troopers (although you may want to wait for the POC version) - Resolute 7 pack (Flint, Arctic Duke, Beachhead, Stalker) - Snow Serpent - ROC Paris Pursuit Snake Eyes - ROC Snake Eyes from Target 4 pack - ROC Desert Duke - ROC Desert Viper - ROC Jungle Ripcord I think all (well ok most) of the 25th are fantastic. But those are just some that seem to work well with POC. Last edited by jscand; 03-13-2011 at 07:15 PM.. |

Also check out the TRU Exclusive Firefly, and the Night Watch multi packs. Both of those are worth picking up if you can find them. Vehicles.. 25th Stinger... enough said. LOL
Single figs.. I second the B.A.T. Defense of Cobra island 5 pack is worth picking up... Wal Mart Exclusive 2 packs with Night Force Tunnel Rat, Night Creeper and Night Force shockwave(blast) There really are too many to name and pick out.. that link is going to be your best choice for picking out what you consider being stand out figures.. everyones opinions are different. LOL
