We saw the drivers of vehicles at Toy Fair and their decrease in articulation. Today, I purchased a Captain America figure from the new Avengers line. I am disappointed to say the least. The sculpt is dead on to what we will see in the movie. However this is supposed to be a Marvel figure that should be able to be posed in various shield throwing positions.
There are no ankle joints. There is no hand or wrist swivel. The most surprising and most noticeable point of articulation that is missing would be the waist swivel. Shouldn't Captain America be able to convey that arc at the waist looking as if Captain Rogers is about to throw his shield ? Perhaps all lines will be taking a step backward as far as articulation technology is concerned in order to maintain a price point. It looks like this may become a standard across all Hasbro lines to some degree or another. Thoughts? |

Yes, Hasbro are decreasing articulation in everything whilst jacking prices again.
FUCK HASBRO.

I bet all movie lines will have less articulation... even the new Star Trek figs too. But I think collector targeted lines like MU will still have the new and improving articulation standard.

So far, not Marvel Universe. Techinically, not true for SW either - as they already have "reduced" articulation. The irony is that they added articulation for their little kids line of action figures - far more than the Heroes figures.

For every thread started about loss of articulation, Hasbro removes one more point of articulation.
I heard the new figures were going to be made of rubber. No articulation points but since they're rubber they have unlimited articulation!

I am still ticked that the newer CW Clone Troopers lost ankle, extra wrist and mid torso articulation... the Sgt. Stone mold they use now sucks IMO compared to the older Captain Rex mold.

How are they decreasing the articulation. Everything I saw at Toyfair was standard.

On something like the hulk, maybe wrist articulation is unnecessary since Hulk smashes, he does not use weapons. On most SW and Joe figures super wrist articulation is nice but may not be essential to the figure. |

Clone Wars figures have lost Ankle, torso and wrist articulation. All GI Joe pack-ins have lost articulation and are now on par with DC 3 3/4" figures. It's not clear if the new movie Joes will loose articulation or not since the images and the figures we've seen are nothing more than mock ups and not final product.
