I'm all for helping my fellow Tankers. I do it every week, you just have to ask around. Having said that, when did we start becoming an angry mob if someone isn't willing to sell a hard to find item at a loss?
Let's talk numbers. The toys are $5.99 plus tax each. Around here that brings the total to $6.57. Now factor in shipping. My best guess is about $7-8 for those who want them kept MiB. Now for the intangibles. It's the last shopping week before Christmas which means the stores are CRAZY, and a discount store like Ross is even more nuts. I've had to wait in line for about 20 minutes each time. Then factor in the weather. In Southern California we're getting hit with the worst rain storm in the last 10 years. If you know anything about So Cal, the rains mean dumb asses panicking and driving too fast. It's actually difficult and unsafe to go store hopping right now. So what are all those worth? What about the gas it took? What about PayPal's charges? According to most on the Tank, none of those seem to count. In fact anyone who has a Ross in their area not only owes it to the 'Tank to leave their warm homes/offices for toys, but must sell them for next to nothing or they are dishonoring the theme of this site. Tell that to the folks who were selling a Yellow Stalker, Black Timber Snake Eyes, or PDD Destro to us in years past. Those sales were ok, but it is now immoral to ask for more than sticker price? I'd love to be able to buy anything I'm interested in at cost. As I said, I sell stuff at cost all the time for friends here. But I had to pay extra when I wanted an Unmasked Iron Patriot, or Mattel Exclusive Wun-dar, or any MotU figure I couldn't buy myself. It's the nature of collect limited and rare items from time to time. If anyone could sell me a TTT Sgt. Slaughter for the $12.99 they paid, I'd greatly appreciate it, and I'd even be willing to pay the tax.

RoG - If I had an extra TTT - I'd sell it to you for cost. You hooked me up right nicely with the Black HISS's...and if you remember I sent you cash as a gift via paypal - trusting you would not do me wrong - and added extra once you told me shipping.
We are a community and I for one try to help out when I can - I just don't live near any of these discount stores you all are getting great deals at. :-( And I don't have the budget to pay extreme prices - though will gladly pay a extra for time, gas and shipping! Shoot I paid people $3.00 a package to wrap gifts yesterday - I know I could buy wrapping paper for $1 and do it myself.

I just have an issue with this idea of having an OBLIGATION to the 'Tank to sell for sticker price. I do it all the time if it's a mass retail item, but if it's exclusive or limited, then that's unrealistic and an unfair expectation. I'm still waiting for some kind Canadian to sell me their Joe Cannuck Exclusives at cost.

Also, someone can just leave them on the shelf and let somebody else get them. There is no obligation to buy them either. A lil' extra for time is fine but nobody is forcing anyone to go get stuff. Most people would not know about any of the stuff showing up if it wasn't for the site so I think that is where the "hook it up" comes from. Seems fair considering it's a community. Anybody can do what they want though. It either sells or it doesn't. All it does is make someone want to deal with the person or not.
Either way, this is the help out thread so I'm not going to discuss what is morally right on a forum in a thread that is people looking for some help. Most individuals have posted what they are willing to spend so if anyone wants to help out I'm sure they will get a PM. |

No my friend, we're good and I was happy to get those tanks for you.

Hey, I'm more than with you on you're whole point of view. It's just not feasable that one could or should sell these at cost. But on the other hand, it's also not fair to take advantage of fellow Tankers that have no access to cetain items. These Target exclusives being the current example. My arguement is 40 dollars a set, shipped or plus shipping (sole discretion of the two parties) is fair for both parties.
The seller/finder makes a profit The buyer gets a set for the price they could have expected to pay at Target. I have two sets of the Ram Cycle and Flight Pod available and I'd sell them for $20 shipped for a set of two. I don't have any extra Whirlwinds because I can't find any, but I would be willing to pick up the Gliders if anyone really wanted them.

I guess $10 shipped each would be fair if you're shipping more than one item (I don't think it cost more to ship 2-4 of these in a box). Like I said, I'm posting here to help, I just want to be fair to both sides of the equation.
