I've wondered - what is it that makes the vehicles of POC so undesirable for me? I've found every one of them on the selves - but have only purchased ONE - the drednok cycle.
I found the VAMP the other day, and I couldn't get myself to pull the trigger on it. The packaging looks cool - but the box weighs about 3 ounces - and is so thin. Just didn't "feel" like it would be worth $25. The Hiss Tank doesn't interest me. The Mechs look kinda cool - but I don't know what I would do with them. The SkyHawk and AweStriker are just more repaints that have been offered up tons of times before. ............................... I guess if I think about it - there are two things that would help me buy vehicles: 1. NEW, EXCLUSIVE figures - not repaints. If SnowJob had come with the SnowCat - instead of being single-carded - I would have bought the SnowCat JUST to get SnowJob. 2. THE PRICEPOINT. $25 seems way high for a small or medium-ish vehicle. $15 seems too about $5 too high for a tiny vehicle. .............................. Opinions? |

Point one for me. I don't collect vehicules, but I migh've but some if the figures they came with were cool and new sculpts. A wolverine that would come with a ARAH Stlyle Covergirl wouldve sold like hot cakes.

Shitty quality for high price points. The Hiss was awesome but after my first there was no way it was worth $25. The tracks weren't good and the paint... there was no paint just a brown fresh out of the mold clunk of plastic. A quick spray would have done wonders.

High quality, sturdy construction, good detail, emphasis on longevity with regards to design as opposed to short-term shelf life focusing on potentially attracting kids via electronic gimmicks, un-compromised proportions, no compromise for gimmicks.
A good vehicle is not as hard as some might think to design. Did any of you honestly like the ROC Night Raven over something like the Rattler? I sure as hell didn't. The Rattler has no electronics whatsoever, but to me, is a much more fun toy to play with. I mean it's like a Harrier+A-10+1 more engine+gunner in one. That is a creative toy, and that sparks my imagination more than a stick with a button for lights and sounds. People can say "oh but Hasbro had to do that to get kids to buy it". Kids didn't buy it, look at the clearance shelves. |

Price. I'd buy some if the prices weren't what they were. For instance, I'd probably buy the Joe mech, but not for $20.

1) Prices need to be in line with 25th stuff. For $25, I expect a Rattler, not a Wolfhound.
2) Better drivers w/ their own stands, accessories, etc. |

The price point was just too high, for one. Not necessarily on the small vehicles, but probably on the larger. And I had no problem buying one HISS at $25, but several? Not worth the cash.
The HISS really is a beautiful vehicle and the centerpiece of the line. Problem is, the spring mechanism is just unreliable and so it's less fun than it should be. I think had they fixed that and come out with black first (I like the brown, actually) they would have moved more. For $25, the Wolf Hound should have working treads. And it probably would've fared better without the marble and probably with a more traditional figure. ARAH Frostbite? People would have gone insane for it, and he still would fit into PoC the way Low-Light does. VAMP I've not seen, but the complaint I hear is that it's too plastic-y and toy-like. That's fine for a $15 vehicle, not for $25. I think if it had rubber tires and some more queues that evoked ARAH, it would have done better (hard to say though because it's still very hard to find it at retail). I think a nod to the Mark II would have been extremely smart here. |
