Hi! What are the differences between the original Stinger jeep and the 25th version?
Are the steering wheels identical? Are the missiles a different shade of red or are the tips rounded off? How does the gray on the doors compare between versions? Are the seats remolded to accommodate modern figures in the new one? I'm just wondering if I could get a new one cheap and use it to fix up an original, or if it's so close to the original that it doesn't really matter. Thanks! |

Off the top of my head I know the headlights are different. Footpegs should have been retooled as well for the newer figures.

Ah yes, I forgot about the footpegs. I guess I am mostly concerned with the steering wheel and missiles, then. I mean, $10 to replace those for a vintage Stinger is a good deal Use the spare jeep for a custom or something. (Can you tell I just collect vintage vehicles? )

I think the plastic used on the missles is different and the shade of red is off. If you had 3 original and added a fourth from the 25th line, you would be able to tell the difference... At least that's the way with mine.
Didn't pay much attention to the steering wheel though

Hmm...steering wheel's the big question, then. Those buggers can go for ten bucks on their own if you can even find one. Still might be worth picking up for that.

The body of the new one has a mount for a removable firearm whereas the original has a molded shovel (I believe)
I always assumed that Hasbro mixed things up (plastic color, molds, etc) with re-releases so people couldn't easily get away passing off new parts as the originals.

I wonder why they care. They always say the collector's market isn't a large enough portion of their sales to matter significantly, but there's no reason to remold parts so they don't match with the originals other than to keep the perceived future value of their products at a high level.

I thought that for awhile, but I think its just to give us an upgrade over the previous version.
