Ok. So, pretend for a second that the ROC toys weren't GI Joes. They were some other Hasbro produced product. Just a new line of action figures. Exactly the same but for names.
Which you have liked them more or less? Do you think they would have sold better or worse? Discuss.

I probably wouldn't have bought any if they weren't labeled GI Joe. They would not have been on my radar. Kind of like the other soldier lines in stores right now... I know they are there and some of them look really cool, but I have purchased none of them. I just don't need another line to start collecting.

I pretty much just bought ROC figures for custom fodder. I sometimes pick up Indiana Jones, Star Wars and MU figs for the same reason. So more likely than not, if the tooling was the same as the modern era figures I would have purchased them.

Only some of the ROC toys were actually new. The rest were repaints of older toys. I think most people actually liked the toys more or less. I mean, there's always something to complain about it seems, but there was some good stuff in there like the Walmart Battle Station sets, Snarler Cycle, Snake Armor to name some.
I think they would have sold way more if they ignored the actor's likeness and put the regular Joe heads or some sort of updated head or re-sculpt perhaps. Oh yeah, and they never should have made the "turtle" vipers. |

I probably would have picked up quite a few fewer of them, but would likely have still grabbed a couple. Sort of like I do with other lines.

Still would have bought them all and loved how these Action Force figures were so compatible with Joes and then started many threads about how that awesome Action Force movie was exactly how a G.I.Joe movie should be.

This!
The vipers in the movie looked cool, but looked like sh!t in toy form. I didn't even buy them when they were $0.88...

Can we assume the movie exist too, but not as part of the GI Joe world? If so then I would have bought some.
