So us getting new waves of POC is probably why we have been seeing the first four arrive sooner than expected. Diamond has already stated wave 4 (which was originally scheduled for 2011) will ship in late november.
When would it be likely for Hasbro to show waves 5+? There are no big shows until Toyfair in february, and I was hoping to have an announcement before that. Don't see when though, all the other shows (Joecon2011 in april, CanadianJoecon2011 in june, SDCC2011 in july, NYCC2011 in october) come in later even. Unless it's strictly internet announcements. Has Hasbro ever announced previously unseen product just through internet press releases? In any case, the first half of 2011 is going to be quite busy. If Renegades gets released during fall 2011 then we could have time for two or three additional all-poc waves before renegades starts trickling (or pouring) in. And then once they do probably quite a few more renegades-heavy waves in order to get all the characters out. How often did different waves appear during the 25th line? How many waves of product (any) did we end up getting in 2010? Feels like we are in for a ton of Joe in 2011. |

You won't see any new product announcements/images until Toy Fair in February. At that time you will see the unveiling of the all new GIJOE: Renegades toy line as well as POC Wave 5 (maybe 6 as well IF they go ahead with one). Expect Wave 5 to consist of any POC leftovers like Jungle CC, City Strike Scarlett, Jungle SS...etc. IF they deem that there is enough time for a POC Wave 6 then we'll see it. Renegades has a street date of 8.1.2011 so from April/May when we'd see a release of W5...there might be enough to release a W6, but I doubt it. They will need the time to sell through POC to get the shelves ready for Renegades.

Remember, Hasbro's plate is FULL next year: Star Wars (Vintage and Clone Wars), Tranformers (Movie, Classics and Prime), GIJOE (leftover POC and Renegades), Marvel Universe, Thor and Captain America Movies, Iron Man, Marvel Legends and Micronauts (which I'm hearing has been pushed to a SDCC debut). In this pond GIJOE is the small fish and Renegades is getting the push/major product launch.

Remember how Resolute was promoted in Wave 13 of the 25th Anniversary line only to somewhat fizzle out once the show finally aired? I can't help but wonder if the new cartoon is headed for a similar fate since the show will predate the figures by a significant amount of time.

Is this solid intel from somewhere, or conjecture based on a fall release?

With 3 major shows in the first half of 2011 I think it's much likelier they will space out their announcements. If we still haven't seen POC wave 5 by february then they will probably unveil it and 6 at toyfair and save the renegades unveiling til joecon or sdcc. Although it would make a lot more sense to show the renegades toys at toyfair since it is the more business oriented show. |

Hasbro said 2-3 times in the October Q and A that there will not be a Renegades line. It will be part of the regular Joe line like Resolute was. I think that a separate line is a better idea and I am not convinced we won't see one, but they have said there will not be a Renegades line.

I wonder if the issue with Renegades is that its name won't change during a 5 year period. That's a long time for an elite team to be on the run. Would make more sense for each season to have a different title, like season 1 is Renegades, season 2 is Reinstated, season 3 is Revenge, etc.
Resolute at some point wasn't a one-shot deal. My understanding was that the Hub is what nixed further Resolute cartoons. All things being equal, Hasbro didn't seem to be disappointed with the buzz created by it when it was released. Even they spoke at one time about considering further releases. I hope that a 5 year run isn't 5 seasons of 12 episodes, though. I miss the days of ARAH when a new cartoon came on every day for weeks. But I'm sure there is a difference in planning 5 years and seeing that come to fruition.
