I also can't even imagine how much of this stuff there was back in the 80s for GI Joe. I bet there was some really cool stuff that just never made it out. All that stuff probably got thrown out since there wasn't a market for it and there was no eBay so the guys that work at the factories couldn't find buyers.

<sarcasm>
Sign me up for the same glider that sold for $6 two months ago and a mustachioed Ace... I'll just call him Slipstream. </end sarcasm>

Do you even remotely think before you post? Holy hell it's like a bunch of freaking jackals come out whenever someone tries to sell something rare. That Jungle Viper was sold at $160. Oh yeah, that's rape. We haven't seen a Jungle Viper ever sell for that much on ebay. Oh wait, we have. We've seen them sell quite often for more than that.
You can say that sounds too expensive, fine. But comparing someone listing a freaking action figure at prices it has historically sold for in the past in a BIN/Best Offer listing. Last edited by SNAKE EYES; 09-26-2010 at 11:08 PM.. Reason: Edited the quote |

Cool, thanks for the quick history lesson. So it seems no matter what toy line you're into if you follow it close enough your bound to eventually come across the disappointment of what could have been. Nice to know it's not just GI Joe, still frustrating though.

This latest glut of them is a rarity though. There have been probably three time periods in 3 inch joe history where you find this amount of canceled figures and it all comes after a fundamental change came to the line wherein the majority of the next year's toy line was axed. This happened in 1995 when Joe was reimagined as joe extreme/sgt savage, 2006 when Sigma Six took over and just recently when they decided not to pay licensing for actor's licenses.

Yeah it seems quite a bit of product has been axed recently. Who knows, if Renegades takes off maybe we'll see some of it down the road eventually.

I regret not buying the Twin Battle Gun here in the Philippines when it came out... They were selling it at retail for around $30, that's why I hesitated... After only a week, it went on sale for around $13... I never saw it again...
