I haven't bought figures for either movie, and I would gladly let go of my Anniversary/Modern figures and vehicles. I got started as a collector 10 years ago this month, having stopped playing with the toys as a child in 1988. I had the original '82's. But what is holding me to this toyline today? Another version of Cobra Commander? Yet another snazzy Alley Viper? The need to chase down every new piece of plastic Hasbro decides to dump on retail shelves? For the rest of my life? Do I really need to have something that thousands of other people also have? How special would a "complete" collection really be? I have so many toys I can't even enjoy them. It's no longer special at all. In fact, all I really do is push around the bins and boxes in my basement as I need to use the space or to get through to something else. This isn't collecting. It's crass materialism. And it's ending. Actually, it already has.

if you need help, I'm in California as well. just give me your address and I'll pick up and dispose of those evil mementos of crass materialism for you. no need for them to be trouble for you longer than necessary.

I hear ya. Evaluating the purpose of all this, we all do or should, I suppose. The sad thing for me is continuing to buy the movie stuff when it didn't even fit in with what I was collecting which was the 25th stuff. I could kick myself for paying 40 bucks for that roc night raven.
