That's fine. Unfortunately, right or wrong, if you check out the other threads, once you entirely discount any sense of objectivity or open-mindedness whatsoever and treat people like that, at best, you are found to be amusing or ignored entirely, at worst, ridiculed and cursed at. I know, I know, you'd rather be right than liked, okay, we all get that. You have made that sooo clear already, so many times. Whatever.

Then why are you making such an effort to do it? Quote:
My answer to your agument that Hasbro is raising their prices all over is to simply ask, where else have they raised their price 40% in less than 4 months, Transformers, Star Wars, My Little Pony? Where? Just show me, and I'll happily bow out and never write another thing to Hasbro nor encourage anyone else to do the same in complaint of the recent hike on Joes.
Something you may not realize, but within Hasbro (and Mattel, as well), there are brand managers. They oversee their specific lines. They have bosses above them that will oversee groups, like boys' action figures, for example. If I'm going to speculate, it is entirely possible that the G.I. Joe brand manager decided to increase wholesale prices before the STAR WARS brand manager put that line's increases into effect. But here is a logical absolute: the new retail price of G.I. Joe 25th Anniversary figures is $6.99. HasbroToyShop.com reflects this now. Wal-Mart's previous price was ridiculously below MSRP, so there has not been a 40% increase on the brand. Wal-Mart just brought the new price closer to the updated MSRP, which will most likely be Target's price when their DPCI system reflects the change. Compare the price of comic book packs at Wal-Mart to the price at Target, and you will see the difference is very close. Quote:
And I never said that Walmart (those meanieheads!) abitrarily decided to raise the price on Joes. As you have stated over and over, big corporations like them don't make abitrary decisions like that. What I have said is that, based on the information I have, I have respectfully expressed my opinion to them that this price increase is ridiculous and have encouraged other people to do the same so that, maybe, just maybe, by some strange chance, they might conclude they somehow made a mistake and repeal the hike.

Except that I wasn't bashing you. I was criticizing your interpretation of a situation, which you seem to have taken personally. That brings us back to the insecurity I mentioned earlier. |

Wow! You were almost cordial in your responses, and for that I am grateful. Again, as I thought I had stated clearly, but I guess I hadn't, I never felt that you were insulting or demeaning to me personally. To other people on the boards, particularly some that are newer to the board and might not be familiar with the inherent dangers of engaging you on a topic, I would say, yes you have. That's what I was referring to, and what began my addressing you personally on the topic at all.
Anyway, back to the topic of the thread. The recent evidence you presented of Hasbro Toy Shop raising their prices (confirmed by their most recent prices on the site) certainly does point to Hasbro deciding to raise the prices on Joes. As I think you alluded to, it would certainly seem as though the Hasbro representative responding to one of the board members that Hasbro had not raised their wholesale prices was either misinformed or worse. Additionally, perhaps the wholesale price viewed by another board member on the Walmart computer has not been updated. Maybe we will see an update of this to go along with the news of the next wave of figs. Whether caused by material price increases, demand or something else within Hasbro, every indication now is that Hasbro is truly the source of the increase, which might be about to affect the comic packs and vehicles, and to their other lines as well (although we have not seen any indication of that yet). That appears to be the reality of it. At this point, since I've made my opinions well known to Walmart already, I plan to address my feedback directly to Hasbro through their website in hopes of receiving at least an explanation of why they made the decision to raise their prices, so we can post it once and for all and remove speculation and correct some of the misinformation that has been posted thus far. Compulsive, thank you for the information about the price increase as HTS! I had not seen that prior to your posting. It is certainly not good news for us collectors, but, as you have mentioned, it was predictable. By this time I am tiring of the campaign, and after my contact with Hasbro, will allow my necessarily reduced consumption be my voice. More foreign travel and the birth of a new daughter will keep me from pursuing anything additional for some time. Thanks to all who have made their opinions/concerns known to Walmart. Sporadic results are better than doing nothing at all. And in reference to my political leanings, I consider myself nothing more or less than a patriot, but yes, I do lean toward traditionalism, I would not deny that. But I do make decisions for myself and have respect for individuals on both sides of the aisle, based on their individual leanings, not the party line. And, that's that, so be it. We did what we could but could not prevent the unavoidable it would seem. And to think, somehow I'm still happy... They are toys after all ...it's better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality... Last edited by thunderdan19; 04-12-2008 at 01:06 PM.. Reason: forgot my quote... |

I can't comment on Walmart as a whole....only on my local "SUPPOSED-" Super Walmart.
First off...if this is the SUPER version....I dare think of what the regular version is. Secondly...I would complain about figure prices...IF THEY STOCKED THEM. I will say this...6.84 for just a peg is expensive, must be the peg for sale...they never seem to hang anything on it. Yes...I do check regulary...not 3 times a day, but 5-7 times a week....so I think the peg is ACTUALLY FOR SALE. Everytime I go in...nothing there...I have often thought of stopping in the aisle...and dropping trow....so then I can actually proclaim they have sheeeet in there. I feel for those of you who don't have a local walmart...but wonder which is worse.....no walmart...or having a walmart that you can tell has a female toy dept. manager. 12 aisles....8 of them girl stuff. BAHHHHHH!!!

You talk like the department manager has a choice on how they are told to set things up.
The target I work for was dry until today to. In the last two weeks all we received was one box of wave 4. Today we received two boxes of wave 5 and one wave 6. |
