I know I am new here and I don`t know how this will be received but I just want to voice how extremely irritating I find scalpers to be. What kind of person makes it their job to make other peoples hobbies harder to do. I mean seriously, if you need money, get a job like the rest of us! They are not just ruining it for us but think about the kids that never get the opportunity to play with the toys like we did when we were kids! If the kids don`t get to play with them and build the same fond memories as we did then when they get older the nostalgia will die with us. I am not trying to sound really deep but I think that really stinks. A few bucks here and there for a rare item is one thing but to buy up everything to create a false demand so you can charge 50x the original price is crap! I really wish that Hasbro would flood the market to the point of saturation so the scalpers would drown in their "extremely rare" or "impossible to find" items. Oh wait, they would just return them then without their Doc stickers so some poor kid could buy them then and not be able to send in for the special mail away!
I am obviously peeved from my own experience of not being able to find pieces to complete my set without overpaying for them but nonetheless my words are true. If there is an active scalper post I would appreciate it if someone would show me where it is so I know who to never do business with and if there isn`t one, I think one should be made ( listing their ebay stores and ebay names as well ). I live in Florida and I am literally surrounded by at least 15 stores that will be carrying new figures. I will be more than happy to help all of you out with finding pieces for your collections so you don`t have to rely on buying them at scalper prices as long (as you aren`t intending to turn around and sell them yourself!). I am also about to start listing about half a garage full of old stuff (Spawn,Star Wars, X-men etc..Carded) so I can fund my 25th Ann. addiction. So if you have any needs let me know and I`ll keep an eye out for it as I dig through everything. I realize you guys don`t know me but as you get to know me you will find that I am an honest person who always looks to help others and do what is right (not just what is right for me!). I look forward to the opportunity to prove that to you guys. As a side note - These are the figures I currently need to get caught up and I truly can`t afford the ridiculous prices on ebay. I am really mad at myself for not starting to buy these sooner because I literally have had at least 8 of these guys in my hand and kept putting off buying them. So if any of you are feeling generous let me know, if not, I completely understand because most of these pieces are in high demand:(. I will be posting this message on a few boards that I frequent as I don`t want to retype all of this again but I do want to maximize any opportunity I have of finding some help. Thanks for reading my rant and your feedback is appreciated. Best of luck in all your hunts! Scalpers do suck but sometimes you have to beat them at there own game. I try to hit stores early in the morning and if I get there at opening I go to the die cast section first. The scalpers leave the action figures in a hurry and come a running to the hot wheels section. Once they come over I go check out the figs. This has payed off many times and I have walked away with some good stuff. Of course my scalpers dig the die cast so I am not sure what your area is like, but it is worth a shot.

I'm with sharke on this, it doesn't matter who's trying to get it before me. How is a scalper getting something different than someone on a message board grabbing up variants and hard to find figures to use for trade bait? Everybody is just trying to get what they want. Some people want figures, some want money. Either way it makes it harder.
And can I say that there wouldn't be scalpers if there weren't people out there buying they're stuff. As long as people are willing to spend way too much money on stuff, scalping will always happen. |

Scalpers are to blame but individuals who buy two of each fig leaving nothing behind are also guilty on this one.

If you can't stand that someone got there before you then move to Cuba. I'm a dealer (scalper) and I only ask $8.00 -$10.00 for 25th an the card. I think it is very fair.

Don't forget the fact that you have to buy almost all the figures in a case, to get all the new figures and most stores only get 1-2 cases.
I have personally met 2 local members on this board and 2 others on another board. That makes 5 of us in my area. If we're hitting the same store, only two of us are getting the figures. |

It`s pathetic how the term "scalpers" keeps coming up.
We have seen collections from fans that show 20-100+ of a particular Cobra Soldiers or 5-20 SEs etc. Then you have the guy who buys purely to sell on. The point is someone buys them, then Hasbro makes more due to the sales. IMHO a true "Scalper" isn`t the person buying the cases up,it`s a person who charges totally unreasonable prices for a TOY figure. Someone charging $5-15 per figure isn`t bad at all (think they got the case, fuel collecting these cases etc),though someone asking $25+ per figure is freaking disgraceful. |

On the flip side, I think Cuba(dictatorship) sounds like a perfect home for scalpers (who try to dictate what an items worth is) ! |
