11/20: Series 2 has begun!
Series 1 (March 2008): Fog on the Flightline The Attack Begins Desert Victory Series 2 (November 2008): This is the current set. Sunset Incursion I wanted to post some images for everyone to see. I've been posting in the 25th Anniversary pictures section, but I haven't gotten much of a response. I wanted to move the pictures where I might get feedback and constructive criticism. The goal of the project is to create a single photograph (at least) for each character within an environment that makes sense and do it in a realistic manner. Realism and quality are of the utmost importance. As I mentioned, I'm desperately seeking feedback. I want to improve with each picture and push what I'm doing each time. Any suggestions you all have are very much welcome and appreciated. I'll post all my photos in this thread to keep it consistent.

I like what you are doing so far. Maybe you could get some accessories or some backdrops to enhance the photos.

hi paul, i like the phantom pic. i'm not crazy about the labeling though. i'm no expert, but that might get you in some trouble. the labels make it look like advertising promos and not art. i think your shooting for your photos to be art and not free advertising for hasbro.
don't worry so much about feedback. i went to art school and i know how important critiques are. i haven't got that many to comment on mine and almost 2000 people have viewed them. i don't let it bother me, i just keep doing what i like to do and have fun with it. a comment is just a bonus, keep it up whatever you do. |

Thanks all for the comments. I'm glad you enjoyed these.
The goal with the Crankcase picture was to test and see if what I wanted to do could be done. It can, but I wish I could get a better camera. I'm a film guy and image quality is paramount to me. I thought Crankcase needed some goggles for his high speed driving, it is an open air vehicle after all. The goal with Ace was to integrate computer graphics into the photo to see if they could be done in a realistic manner. I wanted the picture to seem as if he was just coming back from a mission. It's supposed to look like flood lights coming down on the right side and the night sky on the left side. Obviously with fog... I was going to put his harness into his hands, but it didn't look right. The harness didn't "hang" right like a real harness would in his hands so I opted to have him wear it. Most of the time pilots don't take their gear off until they are off the flightline. It doesn't help that he looks like Major Matt Mason from the 60's either in his outdated uniform. I'm going to find out the exact legal ramifications of using the logo. Since I'm not selling these products I don't think it will be an issue. I honestly don't mind if they look like ads, I'm all for promoting the line-up. But, I guess I could make it seem less "obvious". I don't want any trouble. I know someone asked for accessories, that is coming in the General Hawk one I have planned. That's the next "test". Thanks again all for your time to comment. It's appreciated. Stay tuned.

I love the ACE pic. The Crankcase is a nice one but I'm really bothered by the goggles lol. Good work!
