Welcome! I just learned how to post pictures myself, photobucket rules. Stupid questions are my speciality because I'm stupid. STUPID WITH THE HOT HOT HEAT OF JOE COLLECTING! My girlfriend tolerates my re-found fondness and addiction to my favorite childhood toy but doesn't help find those suckers for me. The past month or so she has been going to the store without telling me just so I don't pick up any new ones.

collecting is really exciting. it just sucks when you don't have the money. or when you spend more money than you realize - it happens so fast sometimes... i've been collecting for since i was a kid - although most of those figures are long gone, or altered beyond recognition. but i've been collecting as an adult since the star wars stuff started coming out back in '95/96. that stuff got way out of hand too quick. so i gave it up for a while. then about 6 years back i came across the bbi/elite force line, and i bought up as much of that as i could (although in retrospect, i wish i had bought up a bunch more - i'm still looking, and the prices are usually at least double what retail was). that was still going strong when i came across the 25th line. so i've got nearly everything - and i must say i'm glad there are no huge pushes for the release of these things. they can keep coming out in small waves, and i can keep affording to buy them bit by bit as i find them. i usually get one to keep and one to open, except with the cobra troops (gotta have a semi-respectable army). i'm really getting into customizing (even more than back when i was a kid), but i can't bring myself to break up this new stuff. i wish there was somewhere you could just buy up miscellaneous bits that didn't pass inspection off the assembly line - line the fiesta ware place. (fiesta ware is a brand of dishes - you can go to the factory and buy up a bunch for real cheap. they really appreciate in value too. although it's hard to get excited about dishes.)

welcome to the "tank". I was collecting Star Wars stuff when I first started dating my wife so when I started collecting GI Joe she was ok with it. They cost less, there are less of them and she knows my obsession so there wasn't a "shock" to her. I feel pretty lucky.

Welcome aboard dude! I just got back into Joe's very recently myself. You've hit on a great place here. It's pretty awesome having a bunch of like-hobbied people gathered to talk about said hobby. I love the interweb!!

Welcome! My wife also understands my obsession, although she doesn't always like it. Sometimes she will help me find Joes, then other times I'm getting the third degree for just trading what I ALREADY have for what I need.
Honestly, I think that it's because she doesn't really have a hobby and that she's jealous that I do. |
