I didn't realize how outrageous the prices were for 25th anniv. translucent variant wraiths are. I just checked ebay saw two at a glance MOC both for over $70, did hasbro really produce so few of these or is this just a post-25th "Get it while ya can!!!" frenzy? I checked a store outside birmingham a week ago for the defense/assault packs and anything else they might have had that was 25th anniv. because im struggling to get together a 25th collection i didn't even know about 25th until last christmas, or the bargain stores until about a month ago. This was the only 3.75 gi joe 25th product in the whole store, i took the big tjmaxx sticker off the card by soaking it in rubbing alcohol and wiping the sticker away with a paper towel it didnt touch the card, the card isnt bent, its in perfect condition!
dont covet my find, id love ghost hawks and rattlers and hiss tanks and stingers, and so many more 25th items that it looks like ill never own because i refuse to sell my soul to 200+% original retail markup scams, but i guess at least I have this one, even if I never became familiar with the wraith character as a kid, it holds no personal nostalgia for me, but i guess it was a sign even us poor boys get a break some times. only thing i can figure is somebody hid this one away and it became misplaced from them and management returned it to the toy section later on after they came back to check, because that 25th tjmaxx ship has already sailed right? everybody all over reporting just the left over croc masters and tf dukes and junkyards/mutts and an occasional bat or cobra rocket soldier, i mean this is true right? I have no hope of ever seeing a whole case of 25th displayed at a local retail store or discount store with sane prices? |

Probably not. That was definately a one time DEAL! But if there are any specific characters you are looking to get I am in the market for a loose Wraith variant. Check out my BST in my sig and if you don't see anything you want just PM me with what you are looking for.

Enjoy your find... The Wraiths are just about spent... The price dipped, but will probably go higher because cheap ones fueled the hunt...
But if you are just starting... You missed a lot... I'd take that Wraith and trade it for some volume 25th... He's rare... But he's nothing compared to having all of the classics in the new sculpts... Just pose the 1982 orginals next to their 25th counterparts... And you'll see.. I love my classics, but my 25th original 13 have become my new favs... |

Honestly, I have to laugh every time I hear people talking about how rare and hard to find the clear wraith was. Sure I never saw one in a retail store, but I remember when that wave first came out, I'd go to toy shows and see Outer Rim Collectibles set up and there would be 7 or more clear Wraiths just sitting there with a very reasonable price tag (I forget exactly what, but I want to say it was less than $20) those things were around for months but I guess everyone would rather try their luck with retail, I was buying cases of figures back then so the price was actually slightly less than retail and I'd get the figures about half a month or so before a lot of retail stores stocked them.
