the old saying goes "If it aint broke, don't fix it"
yes I like the new figures, but the 82-90's figures had form, there's a reason the run went so long, they were a powerselling force, (untill the neon colors took over in the 90's partially to blame is the surge of McFarlane toys that hit with the X-men by toybiz in the 90's everything went neon) our figures posability was dead perfect though, the only flaw was the O-Ring and perhaps the hook that held it in place, and even that is easy to fix wi replacement parts. I wish Hasbro well in the new line, I lkie what they're trying to do, and hope that future runs improve with trial and error, let's hope joe will be around for a long time and won't just be a money drive for hasbro to line their pockets with. |

The Cobra Trooper dagger I have on him, but there was another dagger next to CC, so I assumed it was his. It's not so much the dagger that bothers me, but CC's bent wrist. Is it supposed to be like that, or did I just luck out and get a shitty CC with a bent wrist? Because it sure doesn't look right with a gun in his hand with his wrist bent that way. Sorry to hear about your Destro, by the sound of it, its just yours. Quote:
Wow, I didnt even know the gun in the briefcase came out. Thanks for the heads up Shin

I cannot say why Hasbro does what it does now. I stopped consulting for them four or five years ago. All that seems to matter now is what Wal-Mart wants. Toy companies do not sell their new ideas, they take orders. There is a difference.
Back when I was heading up all of Hasbro corporate R&D (just a little ego trip here: We went from $65 million when I came to Hasbro to $1.8 billion when I left 10 years later), we told the store what to buy. The year we made My Little Pony, it wasn't even our #1 girls' offering. But we forced it into the stores, and it took off. Today, toy companies show products to the "Marts" (Wal-Mart, Kmart and Target), and the buyers make their choices based on what is currently popular. So in essence, you are designing next year against what is popular last year. That's why there are very few new, exciting ideas. I think the new line will take off, retailers want something cheap and that will sell, and of the recent joe items, the anniversary ones have the cheapest prices(compared to the 8" line). I think joe will be here to stay, 3-3/4" seems to be an immortal scale. |

Shin, I agree with everything you suggested should be done to improve the 25th figs. I'm more concerned with bigger problems like the figs articulation and aesthetics. "Unhindered elbows" would make some of the figs 10x better. Having a Cobra Trooper that can't properly hold a rifle makes him worthless (though, for that I'm glad I don't have to retire my legions of TRU infantry yet). And thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU, for pointing out some of the small things that have been urking me to no end. WTF's up with RB and GH's necks! There are definetely some incompotent designers/sculpters at Hasbro with no knowledge of human anatomy. I'm glad the new 25th's don't have all the probs earlier recent Joes have had though. That whole tiny waist, tiny crotch, loooong legged design so many of them were sporting really made me sick! I know were not the only ones who have noticed these problems, but I really appreciate it anytime someone speaks out. This way we can get the superior product we want that much sooner. I don't wanna wait 'til the 50th Anniversary to get truly perfect versions of a simple toy!
I really don't care about small insignificant things individual weapons. I have over 1500 small Joes with thousands of small guns and knives. If the gun a specific character comes with does'nt fit, I can find one that will. That HK did'nt match the Baroness anyway. My Baroness looks much better with the MarauderInc Aug. I'm not saying their weapons don't matter, let's just address the BIG problems first. Like the Baroness' 11" waistline. I hope no one thinks that makes her "sexier". Just make s the toy look ridiculous. God, I could go on all day so I better stop there. Thanks Shin Densetsu. If we all come together we can at least get these toymakers on the ball! |
