the title is a bit of an exaggeration, but frankly toys are getting kind of boring these days. i wanted to share my thoughts when i was just observing my accelerator suit duke. i messed around with him a little bit, but couldnt salvage any fun out of him :/ then i looked at my general flagg and thought about the good times i used to have with him. for old times sake i propped him and my old snake eyes in like this little scene fighting rid megatron. the satisfaction i got out of that was astounding.its hard to think these super articulate, amazingly realistic 3 3/4 inchers are infinitesimally underwhelming for me compared to the classics. i dont know what it truly is, but the toys of today are missing that spark-that x factor that our old toys had. just wanted to see if anyone else agrees

It also might be that you are an adult now so the weirdness factor is there.

Are you talking about the dumb, $60 Accellorator Suit Duke or the 3 3/4"? I really like the smaller. The big one, yes. There's not anything to use him with. Too big for the Battlers, which are stupid too.

Been seeing this accroos the web. I think the fact is that the sparkle and glitz has worn off, the "new" isn't new and it had no substance to begin with, the old did.
I'm not screaming "NO NEW FIGURES." but I think something is really happening, collections are being sold off and new stuff is getting ignored. The "rush" isn't there anymore to grab and some are burning out. Don't belive me, look around any message board, look around the trades sections, the abundance of comments and FS threads really knocks it home that something is happening. |

Maybe we are all finally growing up?
Actually I believe that it is the nation's economy. When times get tough it is hobbies that are the first to go. |

I don't know if it's a big seller, but I've seen kids go crazy over that thing in the stores. Little kids, like 3-5 yrs.

I can both agree and disagree.
With something like that giant Duke, which has all the crazy features so it is a real-life version of Buzz Lightyear, it seems to put you in a mode where you want to hit all its buttons and see what its got to offer. After that discovery is over, especially as an adult, the interacivity is over. You don't stick around to watch a magician after his show of tricks is over. I think kids may have fun with it, but maybe not the same relationship that comes with a little toy they can clutch and take everywhere. I had 2 "ultimate" toys growing up. The Defiant didnt see much play, honestly, but I loved some Fortress Maximus. Still, toysike that are too expensive and often have to have a gimmick, which can get old. When today's technology is mixed well with the styles of our youth, you can end up with something amazing. I think the controls and launching feature of the Grizzly tank from a few years ago are pretty awesome! Better than the MOBAT, although I still find its rolling treads pretty impressive. |

For me, i'm kinda of coming out of tough times now, for awhile both me and my wife were in School, now it's just me. I used to have toys as my main hobby, but as money is freeing back up, I find myself more interested in video games, feels like it's just a better value for my dollar.
