Gi joe 25th anniversary/modern era brought us some of the best 1:18 figures to ever hit the market. Each figure was done in realistic style with swappable gear, removable holsters, and helmets. Even though parts were extensively reused, these were the best gi joes we ever got. Neck balls lead to easily swappable heads to create new characters without a screw driver and the easily swappable parts lead to figures that were simple and detailed when customized.
It eventually lead to the RoC line, which brought up the quality of the figures and expanded the universe further. The toys were not only playable, but had detail rivaling McFarlane toys. But what will be next for gi joe? Will we see figures in the future with removable clothes? Will the articulation improve even more? Will we have gi joes with fiber optics, moving lips, and artificial intelligence? What does the future hold for the gi joe toys? |

I don't know where they can go from here. Another re-hash would be overkill since we JUST got them. Hmm...perhaps a re-envisioning like how Sideshow is creating their sixth scale appearance. Keeping the original look and spirit of each figure with newer updated gear and uniforms.
However it works out, I hope they make more Duke!

Well, if I were influential with BroJob, I'd try to re-vitalize the franchise this way:
1. Do a new five episode "Resolute" mini-series with related product. Release the Destro and Storm Shadow, etc. 2. Overhaul and, to borrow Gyre-Viper's wonderful word, transmogrify the "Rise of COBRA" Joe-Verse property and make the content and style of the sequel more Marvel/military-this would involve the characters receiving their recognizable looks. COBRAs would be soldiers in blue uniforms, CC would get his fishbowl face and hood, Scarlett would get romantic with Snake Eyes, etc. 3. Phase out the present ROC line and re-introduce the Modern line. ROC stuff would see release in old school-style packaging. It would just have the film GIJOE logo instead of the classic one but would have the explosion backs and old school card art. I believe 100% if the ROC merch had been in the old school packaging, it would have sold better. 4. Do a GIJOE/Transformers old school crossover. Make a transformable Seeker mold in Joe scale and do Starscream, Skywarp and Thundercracker with pilot uniforms of COBRA Commander, the Baroness, and Destro respectively. See how they perform with the Joe and TF collectors and then perhaps the line can be expanded. Thrust, Dirge and Ramjet could also be produced with adjustments to that mold. RoC is not selling well. I find them all over the place. The Classic line was hard to locate.
Hasbro needs to go back to pulling at everyone's collective nostalgiac heart strings. I'm not shelling out $8 for a movie figure (which I hate) but I'll give my kidneys for a Classic Low-Light or Footloose.

I think "Pursuit of Cobra" is coming as a cartoon. After all the character art resembled cartoon cells. But they have to write it to an older audience. Remember, people got killed violently in Rise of Cobra

lol,I strongly doubt it. What I want to see in the future is hotwheel sized classic vehicles and every vintage figure made into mini statues.

I'll bet there will be a 30th Anniversay figure with 25th style Duke arms.

Oh come on. That I doubt with all the fall out with this... Doc, Clutch and Breaker have seen a rnning change. Alas, Duke only got the fix on his Toger Force incarnation, but I think we're done with this. That isn't to say we won't see some other molding or sculpting issue.
