I haven't seen any of the 'swither-roos' at my local WM or Target, guess I should count my blessings. Seems sad that people would do something like that...
Anyways, someone mentioned scalpers showing up at Target before open to get figures. I'd just like to interject on that and say that on weekends I am at Target before the doors open. I don't buy all the figures they might have, but I have to get their early in order to get the best selection. And also I go to WM around 10-11 at night to see what they are putting out. Again, I am lucky enough to live in an area that the WM employees have no issues with me picking through their pallets looking for Joes (and SW sometimes). I just make sure that whatever I open and don't take for myself that I put up on the shelves. |

I've seen about 6 or 7 different "swapped" packages at various Walmarts and Kmarts. Some people are just pathetic...

I never saw any figure swapping until this last year when I started collecting the 25th Joes. I'd say I see it 1 out of every 4 times I go to a store. I've seen it at Target but mostly at Wal-Mart. I saw the Fred & Scarface at Target yesterday with a v6 CG (from the Crimson TRU set from '05 I think). There's been a couple of times where I grabbed one thinking I had scored and then realize the figure's been swapped out. I know stores can't ever train people enough to catch this kind of stuff. But if this is occurring everywhere then the retailers are taking a big loss. I, myself have seen at least 10 single Joes, 10 comic packs and maybe 10 5-packs with swapped figures. It adds up fast.
Kind of ashamed and pissed off at the same time that other fellow collectors are willing to be that low and scummy.

This swapping out figures stuff is gonna catch up with us real soon if it continues...WM and Target could very well implement a policy of limiting figures purchased...
I really can't believe the morals of some people anymore... |

You think swapping is bad, about 2 months ago Target had about 20 Cobra Legoin sets on sell at $13, someone bought them all and then took them to Wal-Mart (this one never carried the 5 packs) and returned them for $25 that's a $500 loss. And now that Wal-Mart has to take another hit as they're selling them at $13.

I hate to resurrect this horrendous policy thread, but...
I asked my friend in Kansas City to check things out during his next trip to Target so I could get an idea of how the rest of the Midwest was faring in GI Joe distribution (he's not a collector). He came back with the story of an empty GI Joe section, along with a printed sign that associates are not allowed to go in the back to look for a specific item at the request of a customer. As has been said, I'm sure that both Target and Hasbro will see their GI Joe sales improve dramatically with this policy. |

No, not really. They might raise an eyebrow if he returned them all at once. I returned a Transformer I had two of after I got one as a gift and they took it without a receipt.

I'm not sure if it's within a calendar year or one year from your first return. I'm guessing it's a calendar year. I think Target and Best Buy have a similar policy because they both have asked for my Driver's license in the past. Has anyone else seen this happen? What would happen if I told them I didn't have my license? Gaelinic |
