Released in November 2024 as part of Wave 17, the Joe team's MOUNTAIN TROOPER has finally arrived in the Classified Series.
Many Classified fans have been asking for Alpine ever since Bazooka was revealed a couple of years ago. He was finally announced during YoJoe June in 2023 and makes his debut with a mostly new figure. Featuring a great head sculpt and a new torso and arms, Alpine also has some nice new gear like a removable rope harness, a carabiner belt and climbing picks, pre-use for a future Rock-Viper...? Many fans have voiced their disappointment with the fact that Alpine does not come with a backpack or a smaller machine gun. Something Hasbro hopefully rectifies if he ever gets another release, perhaps for the retro assortment? Alpine comes packed with the following gear and accessories: a removable cap, a rifle with removable ammo clip, a pair of removable protective goggles, (2) climbing picks, a grappling hook and real rope, a grapple gun with detachable hook and a removable rope harness. Using the poll options, rate the figure and vehicle on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being a total miss and a 10 being plastic perfection, based on what you feel the figure (and vehicle) deserves. Ratings should take overall design, sculpt, paint apps and paint deco, accessories and articulation into consideration. Thanks for voting and Yooo Joe!!! How is everyone like Alpine?
One of my favorite Joes growing up, I think he looks great. Not voting on him until he arrives in-hand though.

The lack of a backpack is a big disappointment for this figure. The hat doesn't look right, the deco on the shirt is unnecessary. I never had alpine as a kid. I did like the character on the cartoon. Not a bad figure, but overall I think he just looks a little off, could have been done better like so many other figures have been. |

I'm still waiting for mine. No email from Pulse yet. I'm getting anxious.

I saw where someone swapped heads with Stalker and it looked great, but I wonder how the hat fits Stalker. I have an extra Stalker so might give it a try because he looks a bit young, but won't know till I get him in hand.

Received my pile of loot today and Mr. Pine was included. One of my favorite Joes and I'll call him another strong figure in what's been a solid year of new releases. He looks great. No complaints. Need to let him catch-up with Bazooka and Quick-Kick.
Side note: The packaging seems tiny compared to the retro packages. |

Gave him an 8. The lack of backpack is the major factor. However, I wish they gave him a gun that was more like his vintage one. That was one of the things I loved about Alpine.

I don't have him yet, but I agree the two things he's missing that may knock him down a point or two are the backpack and a small sub-machine gun.
I feel like someone weighed down with a bunch of rock-climbing equipment and that may only have one hand to use a gun would want an easy-to-use smaller sub-machine gun.

Just got this one today, and it's about a 7.5 for me, so I'll round up to 8.
The figure itself is fine, I like the updates like the Idaho t-shirt, but my copy has really tight knee and elbow joints, and frustratingly, his left leg keeps popping off when I move it. It stays in place fine once I get it in position, but half the time it just pops out of the hip socket while moving. Very obnoxious. He has a LOT of stuff, which I always like, but his way of storing it all is kind of awkward, lots of rubbery loops on the back that are a pain to get his various hooks in and out of. And no backpack like the original, so to hold everything he needs to always be carrying the gun and grappel launcher in his hands. The original had a backpack for storage, so not sure why that was skipped here. Also not a fan of the accessory reuse from Alley Viper, would have preferred his own unique stuff. So kind of a mixed bag, has some pros, but a lot of cons. If you get a copy with decent legs you might like him better then me. Edit: I will admit, he does look good with his buddies from the cartoon. Last edited by Spider5800; 11-21-2024 at 06:21 PM.. |
