I grabbed two: one to be a generic officer and one to use as Sgt. Major Duncan, but every head swap idea I've had pales in comparison to what I think Lenny and Fred Aczon or Paul Harding would come up with. As Classified has no real IG trooper types and no other Iron Grenadiers aside from the gold BATs and Metalhead, they're all currently stashed away.

Yeah, I definitely look at this one as being like an officer and assume a future Retro IG will look more like the '88 figure and be infantry or a trooper.

I think they really need to do a retro or just a mainline version of Arah VER 1 ig it?s a sleeker look and less ceremonial .. I mean a dude w/a tie on attacking me w/a sword no less ..

All kidding aside, despite slight disappointment in him not really looking like the original trooper and more like an officer, this figure is really well-done.

And yet, it could be significantly better. Way too much reuse in the weapons department, rubbery guns, shit paint on the reused swords, less than smooth joints (I find it hard to believe I'm the only one whose had issues with the ab crunch and the shoulder). Looks fucking good, though. He'd look even better with black pants and his own boots, but he does look fucking good.

Yeah, I replaced his firearm weapons, but more so because they were reuse and not really like what he had in '88 and not so much because of gumminess (mine were semi-rigid actually). I didn't have the sword paint issue like a lot of others did though. Didn't have joint issues either.

Out of the box I think he's an 8. Upgrade the weapons and repaint or kitbash him up a little, he's a 9 or 10. I gave mine black pants and repainted the knees red and also gave him some extra red and gold and silver gear for his leg and arms to get a more classic, trooper vibe. That made me love the figure a bit more for sure.

I have zero doubt this guy's going to get the retro treatment. After the more recent trend of a decent amount of newness that we've seen with some retro figs (Duke, Scarlett, Flint, Cover Girl, Viper, etc.), I'll be shocked if they don't tool up a new torso for him and maybe more for the retro figure. Just hope they do for the Retro IG what they did for the Retro Viper on terms of plussing him up and making him a lot more ARAH-inspired.

I could not agree more. Maybe if we got this version after a true recreation of the original 1988 version, maybe I'd approve of it as an officer type and would have gotten 1 or 2, but since Lenny and the team botched things releasing this version first, it was a solid no from me. That solitary 1 rating, that was me.

If we are going to get a true 1988 original basic Iron Grenadier trooper, I think it's going to have to be a mainline release. The retros are nice but they're straight repaints, and I don't want a single piece of this Iron 'Office Worker' reused. Maybe the chest strap, maybe.
