The worst part is these jerks don't lose any money because whatever they can't sell on ebay in a month they just return to the store.

I've worked at two separate Big Box retailers, and "scalping" was against store policy at both of them. The logic is that it's better to piss off one guy trying to buy everything, than pissing off 30 guys wanting to buy one.
My personal opinion is if they want to buy all this stuff they can have it. I know my limits of what I'm willing to spend, and I don't go over them. If other collectors want to spend the kind of money these guys charge that's their perogative. If there wasn't a market "scalpers" wouldn't buy this stuff. Personally, I would rather them choke on it than pay outragous prices. *shrugs* |

You cannot. Scalpers have been accused of being hoarders, anti-social, bad hygeine, no rhyme or reason to their purchases and only go after the rare stuff.
The same can be said about some collectors. Things not being on the shelf means one of two things. 1) That store hasn't gotten the product yet. 2) Someone beat you to the product at the store. The scalper excuse is really more scapegoating than anything else. It's like the boggie man. You want to spot a scalper? Follow a customer home from the store and see if he list everything on ebay right away. Try not to get arrested. |

Well I'm pretty sure theres a manager at my tru that scalps toys. I've asked him about some harder to find items that are TRU exclusives (like DCUC vs MOTUC) and he never answers my questions about when they come and how many they order. He also acts suspiciously and kinda dodges me. punk-ass bitch!

I remember for about 5-min Helix was serious trade-bait, and people were passing up Flash, Crimson Neo Viper, and Pit COmmando in favor of her. It's one of the rare cases where I'm glad the stores overordered, so even the good army-builders weren't too hard to find. |

Who really scalps these days though? I really do not see it. Maybe I am missing something but here on LI, I really just don't see it.

I don't like it when people buy everthing on the racks so they could sell it on Ebay and not keeping some for the rest of us.

what is the difference between a scalper and a toy collecter that buys everything off of the shelf?
