Released as the San Diego Comic Con exclusive in August 2024, Once A Man Cobra Commander marks the first time this version of Cobra Commander has been done in any G.I. Joe line, which is very special.

The figure has a lot of new tooling as well as some re-use and comes in distinct and very special packaging showcasing Cobra-La and Cobra Commander and his mutation using a cool lenticular effect. Cobra Commander features an all-new head, torso and arms while the rest of the figure is re-used from the Cobra HISS Tank Retro Cobra Commander released last December. The new serpent head is sculpted really well and has creepy scales and snake eyes all over his face, just like in the animated movie. The torso and arms also have snake-like scaley skin and are very nicely done as well. Once A Man Cobra Commander also has a newly sculpted removable jacket that's ripped and tattered to look like he transformed and ripped up his outfit and looks really good. Hasbro also tooled up an all-new alternate, removable face plate, which features really cool details on the inside.

Cobra Commander also comes with an all-new snake figure, featuring him in his mutated serpent form after he is exposed to the spores. The other accessories he comes with are the same ones the HISS Tank Retro figure and upcoming Retro figure also come with. Note the Commander re-uses Tomax & Xamot's wrist wrap accessories for his gloves as well.

Once A Man Cobra Commander comes loaded with with the following gear and accessories: a venom blaster pistol, a removable backpack holster, an alternate head with battle helmet, a dagger, a removable mask face plate, (4) alternate hands (two clenched fists, a pointing finger and a grasping hand) and an articulated (both arms), mutated, serpent transformation figure. *Note the alternate open hand was originally designed to hold his pet snake and globe accessory, which is not included with this release.





Using the poll options, rate the figure on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being a total miss and a 10 being plastic perfection, based on what you feel the figure deserves. Ratings should take overall design, sculpt, paint apps and paint deco, accessories and articulation into consideration.

I was disappointed that he didn't have one exposed "snake foot" like he did in the movie in this outfit.

Me too. Don't get me wrong, I still am ecstatic we even got this version of Cobra Commander in Classified, but I agree it would have been great to see one leg slightly re-tooled to include that detail.

Great example of an exclusive. Deep cut version if an iconic character and something that was never offered with previous lines.

A mutated hand would have been cool to help sell the effect further.

Cobra Commander needs many figures and this one's inventive, fun, kind of "Mole Rat gory" and a big tribute to Sunbow.

For me, this is an automatic 10 because its the first time the figure has ever been done and it resonates with a large portion of the collecting fan base that started with the ARAH line.

Not going to nitpick any potential issues. The deep cut and creativity warrants the 10/10 from me.

I'm really looking forward to getting this figure. I always loved when we saw the flashback when he transforms into a snake man. I thought it was creepy as hell, but also really cool as a kid, when he starts de-evolving/mutating into an actual snake! So getting both of those things in Classified feels pretty special.

Does anyone else want Cobra Commander in his Cobra-La Nobleman form?

Yes man i would love that figure , I for one have been asking for not just him but cobra la denizens as well i want critters people plants i would buy every cobra la character they make .. please hasbro more

I don't care for anything to do with the movie or Cobra La. However, this looked cool and I was able to order it on Gamestop Canada site so I went for it. Had it not been available on Gamestop, I would have just skipped it. Now to wait till October as that's the Gamestop release date.

Looking at the torso though, I feel it will be used to make Golobulus. That's probably why they didn't do any new sculpting of the feet as they have nothing else to use it for, whereas the new body might be usuable as a base for Golobulus.
