Does anyone know where to get any extra pieces for modern era figures?

Certain figures will fit but it is a very tight fit and their arms stick out. If I had one and had some time, I would look into making the seat area deeper, but I don't have an ASP to play with and it's not something I care enough to look into, but I'm sure it can be done. I think someone else mentioned cutting out the feet area so the feet can go into the vehicle. Sometimes if you get rid of some material at the feet, it would work. That's what I did on my Persuader, I cut out the front of the tub so his feet can fit in the seat. However, on the ASP, because it's visible, you'll have to find a way to hide it or to make it look like it's supposed to be like that. If I ever do get an ASP for cheap, I might look into modifying it.

Okay, I has an ASP I was going to get rid of, but Now I think I'm going to get the dremel and some styrene and try to add some leg room for modern figures.

Hi, I am new in this forum and I tried to find the answer to my question everywhere without success, so I need some help. Does anybody know if the 2002 mantis submarine can fit two modern gi joe figures? This is the submarine I am talking about:

Someone else that has one in hand would be better qualified to answer, but from memory, those Moray figures are bulky (and nowhere near as poseable), so I'd say that the odds are good. I also remember the cockpit being fairly roomy. Hopefully someone can provide a more concrete answer, I got rid of my own Mantis years ago.

If memory serves, that Mantis was repurposed from Johnny Quest toyline and I think the figures were slightly smaller. You can probably put the diver Baroness in the back but I think even the figures from that era were a tight fit in the back.

Thank you guys for the warm welcome and the replies so far. =)
Yes, it was repurposed from Jonny Quest, but I only found few conflicting information about that 2002 cobra mantis and its compatibility with modern gi joes. 1-) There is this website: Forgotten Figures: Jonny Quest- 1996 Quest Porpoise By Past Nastification Which says "The QP’s cockpit could even hold two back-to-back figures (think Empire Strikes Back Snow Speeder). An ARAH Joe won’t fit in the rear-facing seat, so I believe there was some slight modification for the mold’s re-use as a Cobra vehicle." 2-) There is this video: Where toward the end the person puts inside old gi joes, not modern ones, and the fit doesn't seem that great (but the old video doesn't help). 3-) There is this review: G.I. Joe Vs. COBRA Vehicles - Mantis Where the author only uses old gi joes. 4-) And finally there is this post: https://www.hisstank.com/forum/1128457-post628.html Where the author only says: " the Mantis sub from Joe vs. Cobra line is compatible, especially with ROC Eels." Not clear if in both seats. And that's it... I was planning to get one of those 2002 mantis, but I only have modern gi joes. A purchase would only make sense if I could know for sure that the mantis can take two modern gi joes, but so far I couldn't find a clear answer in the internet... Any more help would be greatly appreciate. Last edited by Che; 09-04-2020 at 12:57 PM.. |
