Deluxe Zartan is the best release - although I do like this version's eye paint. The silver on the deluxe version really pops - and I like the dark skintone on that version. Retro seems pretty unnecessary. 3rd release of the same figure with different paint aps... right up there with Destro and CC.

Good point. The card art on Retro Zartan seems like it was a last-minute rush-job. Like, they got a call on Thursday night saying, "we accidentally destroyed the 1984 artwork - we need new art by tomorrow morning or we can'r print the figure". So they just photo'd the figure and ran it through some photoshop filters and said, "close enough!"

lol Yes! Not sure what happened? It sticks out like a sore thumb when you put his card next to any of the other 7 retro figures' cards. It's like a game of 'which-one-does-not-belong'.

I gave him a 9. He's actually my favorite version they've released. I actually prefer this one over the MOD Zartan. I do like the silver accents of that Zartan, I don't like his skin tone and much prefer this skin tone. I love the paint apps on his knife and backpack that were significantly lacking in the original release. I love the color scheme the best on this figure and think the blue really adds a lot along with the extra deco hits. I think the only thing keeping this figure from a 10 is a lack of skin change (which I understand) and lack of swamp skier. If he had come with one or both of those things, he may have been the best figure of the year for me. I don't always appreciate repaints, but to me this one is a major upgrades over the other two.
