Back in the ancient, early 2000's days of Joe BattleLines Forum - we did a fun community building activity.

We took a Wild Bill figure - and he took a trip. Everyone put their address down on a list - and we mailed Wild Bill to the fist on the list. When he arrived, that user would take Wild Bill around their local area - hitting the local hotspots - and taking some interesting 'vacation photos' of Wild Bill. They would then post the pics to the forum - and send Wild Bill to the next in line.

I was really fun. Let's do it on here! I will donate my Tiger Force Outback to the cause. Outback can take a trip - and we can have some fun following along with Outback's adventures.

If you want to participate - comment below. I propose we make a list - but not list all the addresses publicly. We've PM just the 'next person in line' to get the address just for where Outback will go next.

I'll take Outback out tomorrow and get him ready for his vacation!

Don't take this the wrong way, but you created a thread just like this at the beginning of the year and never bothered to engage with it.

I KNOW! What happened to that thread? I was just looking for it - and I couldn't find it. I don't remember why nothing happened with the idea. Was nobody interested? I have a short memory. This sounds like a fun idea to me... maybe I'm the only one.

(honestly, I can barely remember talking about this. Did I make a thread about it? Seriously... am I that old? I don't want to be losing my memory already...)

As before, I'm into it, especially with all of the hiking I've been doing in the High Sierras the past couple of months. Always wanted to take some Joe pics on my trails, never think to bring figures until I'm out there.

WOW - I even worded the post almost the same. Really, I'm a relatively sane person. I don't think I have dementia (yet).

We've all done it, I think. I'm sure I've had posts at the very least that are exactly the same as ones I made three or 4 years ago.

In any case, hopefully this picks up some steam, I think it's a cool idea.

Nice idea, but this may be an alternative to account for more cyber privacy. What if we announce a "traveling" figure, and everyone post a pic their own figure in front of chosen locales in your area. That way, we don't have to deal with pm'ing addresses. Just an idea. I'm not in IT, but I get weekly emails on cyber security from our IT guy at work.

Not a bad point at all, but I think as long as we stick to relatively known members, we should be fine- after all, it's no more risky than it would be if we we were trading. Maybe a 100 minimum post count, or something to that effect to qualify?

Yeah, I get the concern... but if we just PM addresses - it keeps it just between two people - and not public. Yes, no different than making a trade.

Part of the fun is seeing the same figure travel around. I plan to add a bumper sticker from my hometown. Maybe we can keep adding mementos like that for each stop. I want to see Outback make it to Canada, the UK and Australia!

You guys are right. I guess my IT guy is doing his job at keeping me from clicking those phishing emails!!! Hahahaha. I'm game!!! Got some ideas for Outback.
