I think most of us grew up as 80s kids, but even if not we are all obviously familiar with the great 80s toy franchises that exist. As a lot of you know I'm basically an 80s action figure fanatic. We have seen a rebirth of tons of 80s properties with Super7 doing Thundercats, GI Joe, Silverhawks, Mattel with the He-Man line, Hasbro continuing with Joe, Transformers and now making D&D figures from the cartoon, Turtles and Ghostbusters have seen lots of figures of the years and smaller companies like Zicatoys and Fresh Monkey Fiction have made Sectaurs and Eagle Force, McFarlane making Super Powers and I'm sure there are some I left off the list.
My question is what 80s property would you like to see make a comeback and in what scale. I am a 1:18 scale guy, but I have picked up all of the Super7 Thundercats as I love that franchise.

movie Dick Tracy. Man I loved those figures. It was basically a line of cool and unique bad guys with two good guys in it. The two cars were fun as hell, too. Sucks that Beatty refuses to do anything with the rights and just sits on them.
Was always disappointed there was never a third wave with Tess, the Kid, etc. And was really disappointed in an era when you got "toxic slime" and putty cans with figures as action features, there was no Cement Bath playset. That was such a missed opportunity. A second one would be Inspector Gadget. No, not those static things released recently. I mean a full line of articulated figures. I'd kill to have modern Dr. Klaw and Penny figures I could slide in with other lines. |

COPS n Crooks, i actually enjoy that series and figure line, only had one season but three waves of figures. Galaxy Rangers, great series that never had a toyline, least here in the United States. Visionaries, i had several figures and a couple vehicles, wouldnt mind seeing them again.

Bionic Six. But give the figures swivel-arm grip and no die-cast metal parts that the paint scrapes off too easily.

STARCOM: The US Space Force. Even at that tiny scale, the figures were great. The magnet gimmicks were a ton of fun. The vehicles were epic! A really well-thought-out modular system where smaller vehicles could be stored in the larger ones. The "motorized" (mostly spring-loaded) mechanisms for deploying weapons & other gear was clever. Even the short-lived cartoon was well done.

Definitely MASK and at the original scale, so the vehicles aren't too expensive. I like what Ramen is doing with it, but damn are those things pricey!

M.A.S.K. Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future Starcom I really love the Mega Construx/Mega figures and scale. I love the MOTU line and would love to see Thundercats and Silverhawks and more franchises in that style/size. They have done TMNT, Terminator, Aliens, Predator, and Star Trek. The small footprint and price is why I want smaller figures versus larger figures.

Visionaries, Knights of the Magical Light.
That shit could be the new LOTR, but cuz it was a one year line, Hasbro have no interest in it. |
