I just attempted to disassemble my Sky Striker to take a look at the inside however noticed that their is molded plastic around the engines at the rear of the plane so I stopped myself from trying to rip the plane apart as I did not want to risk any damage.
I think the issue is the front landing gear has a little too much space in each side where it pegs into the sky striker. The space causes less tension and the result is the landing gear not staying in place when it's in the plane and when the plane is pushed it the front landing gear collapses causing the two rear landing gears to collapse since they are all connected by that piece. I try not to be a stickler but at the end of the day I invested $230 dollars and I'd like the jet to be as advertised in complete working order. I also opened a case up with Haslab. I'd love if they were just able to offer a simple solution like some springs to add tension if possible. I'll update this thread when I hear back. I've seen reports of this issue elsewhere on social media so I know it's more of a quality control thing than isolated issue. Tightened the screw. Didn?t work. Slid a piece of rubber underneath the tail hook mechanism to see if that would work. It didn?t. Saw a guy fix an old Heman fig with elastic thread. Tried that. Didn?t work? |

There?s a little more resistance when opening it but it stays open just fine once locked into place.

I thought of doing the rubber band or a spring-like mechanism, but it seems like it would be more cumbersome when playing the two ejection seats having to re-attach the rubber band to the front peg area.
I can happily report my inserts are holding up fine, with repeated gear retractions (over 30) and hard shaking. In fact one side seems to be enough added friction to prevent the slider from backtracking.

I used a slightly fat rubberband like the video shows, seems to stay just fine. I've taken the seats in and out multiple times and haven't had it come off yet. The seats also hold it in place when they're positioned. I went with this because I was looking for the least invasive thing possible, I didn't want to unscrew anything, add layers of super glue, or cut parts etc. It was easy to try and since it worked without damaging anything I'm sticking with it unless there's a compelling reason to go another route.

FYSA: Hasbro Customer Service finally got back to me today.
They want to do a full exchange--send everything back in exchange for a fresh unit... thankfully I haven't put the decals on yet- but should I even bother? lol.

I'm still waiting to hear back from them, but I have the same thought, if it's worth returning. I assume they'll have to do another run (like they did for Victory Saber)

I guess I got lucky. I don't have this issue...well not as bad as some of you describe. Mine might drop a little if I bang it or if my hand brushes against the arrestor hook, but generally, it stays in place.
