(Crap phone pix)
I know I've got nothing really to add this discussion that everyone hasn't already been said.. but I've also got no one else to talk about my toy stash with, so you all are my imaginary friends now. One thing that everyone has said that is totally accurate is the Valaverse stuff is comparatively large. Aside from that MP7, my girls can't hold these things comfortably at all.. in fact they tend to favor the big dudes. The star of the show for me is definitely the Cobra Infantry with the SCAR. My initial plan was giving him the grey Vector, but I wound up defaulting to the SCAR for the same reason dudes gravitate towards it over an M4 in real life; ergonomics. The stock is a smidge too long to comfortably shoulder, but the vertical foregrip shines, and I adore how well it matches his IOTV. I'm primarily a Sunbow fan now. The older I get and the amount of time I've spent actually *in* the military makes me more appreciative of the silliness and absurdity, to each his own. Having said that, the tan color of the M4/M203 puts me in a mind of an XMLR real hard... I would love a good 1/12 scale XMLR, in my noggin that carbine is shooting red lasers. I didn't intend to have that be Roadblock's kit, but it's growing on me now. The trigger guard on the 'nade launcher is so big it looks weird on everyone else. The... I guess it's a DMR? The AR platform with the green heat shield. (Doesn't have a forward assist, soo... somebody educate me), I wanted that to be Lady Jaye's, but her wee petite hands wouldn't jive with it, so I stuck it with Flint just for pictures, but that one might very well stay now also. I really really like my Flint much better with the vest removed. I did it with boiling water, but didn't quite heat his right side long enough, then snatched it real hard with my teeth.. (I didn't claim to always make good choices), and broke one of the pegs in the butterfly joint. It popped back into place and works fine, that side just a smidge looser than the other; but it strikes me as incredibly appropriate. I know soooo many Warrant Officers with something or other torn in their shoulders that are on permanent no-pushup profiles. Totally accurate. Roadblock and Flint are my two go-to, ride or die Joes now, because they are the part of my small collection that look the most like their cartoon incarnations. The MP5 definitely doesn't go with Snake. The one that came with him works much better. The gun looks 'nice', but is a scooch too large all the way 'round, to my eyes. The grip, the stock, the heat shield. I've never actually held one, so I'm just judging via action-figure logic. I initially stuck the thing with Beachhead, because MP5's and Balaclavas seem to go together, but that wasn't comfortable either. (This didn't get better since these figures are the exact same body, duh). I find I enjoy these figures far more the less overlay/web gear they sport, so I've had to seriously resist taking Commando Snake's vest off. I'm glad I didn't since they've revealed him on the Retro card-back essentially bare. Plan on getting most of those. I don't know if anyone here has ever played Act of Aggression on PC, by Eugen... but the Cartel faction in that game was almost a copy-paste of Cobra, with the fun distinction that every single vehicle actually existed in real life, usually just as concepts and prototypes, and of course they were sci-fi'd up for the game, but I enjoyed it. The basic Grunt for the Cartel was the 'contractor', and they were armed with Vectors... which is a layer of association that made me want this gun for my Cobra Infantry... didn't work out. I'm happy like this though. It's a weird-ish gun. I'm not sure if Major Bludd is it's forever home, but he holds it well, and if I leave it there long enough I might decide just that.. .. Did anyone else generate automatic head-canon with this Bludd figure? For me that cyber eyepatch and arm represent a linked targeting system... Can't really have the arm give him absurd super-strength because it's still anchored to his skeleton, but I could it see it locking down and holding that rocket pistol perfectly still based on telemetry received from the eye. I know I'm being silly, y'all play with me. The AK is a bit of a low point for the set. I mean it isn't 'bad' per se, but the barrel is too thick, and there isn't enough detail in the furniture for it to be brown. (Would've landed better as synthetic black... I might get off my butt and etch some woodgrain into it or something). But the overly thick barrel when everything else is otherwise at a happily consistent scale comes across looking kinda Fisher Price'y. --really happy to be getting a cartoon-accurately colored Zartan for the retro line also.. when that lands I might... miiiiight have to get a Gridiron prop electric guitar and make some orange hair for this one... we will see. The pistol would probably land better with a generic Mandalorian.. Somebody tell me what this gun is? My wife is a seamstress... so you can imagine her amusement when I asked her to teach me how to sew a very small shirt... Meet Bodycount. Roadblock's... uhh... nephew. A disillusioned American drone pilot that figures at least Cobra is honest with their terrorism, and they pay better. (work in progress, lol) |

You got the following weapons in your set:
HK MP7 HK MP5 FN SCAR Z-M LR-300 TDI Vector CRB Izhmash AK47 SilencerCo Maxim9 IMI Desert Eagle Milkor MGL I'm not sure what the rifle is with the green handguards but some M16 rifles don't have the forward-assist or have slab sides |

I'm pretty sure the black rifle with the green hand guard was originally an HK MR762 (with the long range rifle package). In some of the old prototype images I saw it had the correct (larger) 7.62 magazine. After that, I think the decision was made to give it a 5.56 magazine so you could swap them out with the other rifles in the set. I'm guessing it was done to save money.

Thanks for the this amazing post.
The weapons do look a little big for Classified. I'm glad I filled my Troopers and Infantry out with G36s from etsy rather than rely on the Valaverse stuff. I also agree with you wholeheartedly about webgear and vests. I like my figures cleaner and to include as little of it as possible. It's just too bulky looking in this scale. The Valaverse figures suffer from this more than most Classified, but I really love that the Cobra Officer has less armor than the Troopers and Infantry. I'm looking forward to Retro Snake Eyes and another take on Beach Head and Firefly to cut down on their over all bulk.
