Yes the plastic is different but I don?t have a problem with it. It?s a less glossy plastic on both figure and vehicle but feels like I don?t have to wipe my prints off of it every time I touch it. I can see why some have the option of it feeling cheap but it feels a lot less likely to break snap etc compared to the vintage.. I guess it?s a trade off and one I?m ok with. I don?t foresee any whitening on the plastic around joint and hinges like the old one might tend to do. I am very happy with it and look forward to grabbing future vehicles.

Yeah, "rubbery" isn't the right word for it. It's more pliable than the vintage stuff, but not floppy or soft. It's sorta like the plastic used in totes, but not quite that either. It just isn't as hard, slick/smooth as the stuff we're accustomed too.

Well, you know how it works nowadays, if a nerd doesn't like something, it's automatic shit. Hyperbole is king, ya'll!

You know, it's like the plastic used in the True Heroes Battleship & AC-130 and some of the more recent Lanard Corps vehicles (like the Rain Fire helicopter), but it "feels" better than that. Hard to describe.

The only thing I find disappointing is the tight fit of the figures. There's no overhead space. Every time I try to put in the driver, or any other o-ring for that matter, I have to force it through the rollbars. I have an original Stinger and I have yet to compare if it has the same issue, but I would have thought that something as basic as putting your driver in the vehicle shouldn't be a problem.
It really bothers me that this basic functionality of the toy is not taken care of.

I feel like the negative perspective a lot of people are taking with the O-rings/vehicles is like the curmudgeonly old man argument of "It feels good in the hand" (I hear this a lot with the weight of metal miniatures vs plastic) because "it isn't what they remember." It's just emotional horseshit.
The new Stinger is objectively more durable than the old, and so is the driver. They are physically superior copies (minus the knee tooling error) due to modern engineering and plastics advances. The mail-order versions of vehicles weren't even exact duplicates of the originals. Hasbro has gone out of their way to make their best effort to make products that will last with the new "forever" O-rings, and now the plastic choices on the Stinger and PVC forearms and hands. OP isn't just wrong, OP is ungrateful. Last edited by BizCopperhead; 11-04-2022 at 04:50 PM.. |
