As stated by others, lack of headroom was always a problem with the VAMP/Stinger mold. Especially with 1982-84 figures before a ball-joint neck and nodding head articulation were added, the driver's eyeline was basically blocked by the front rollbar.

Don't you usually take the roof off t put the figures in? I've managed to squish my ME figures into the original even that way.

For me the stinger has been a disappointment of epic proportions. I wasn't able to buy it in time before it "sold out" the first time. I was looking at listings on ebay, but by fortune they came back in stock on Pulse so I didn't hesitate. I never had a stinger to go with my Joe toys growing up and never picked up the 25th anniversary Stinger.
Disappointment does not even begin to describe my emotion. As if the rubber plastic and issue with the doors isn't bad enough, the steering column piece will not stay on mine. I called Hasbro and I'm sending it back for a refund. Last edited by Matrix889; 11-03-2022 at 12:29 PM.. |

I'm looking over my Stingers and yes, you can tell how flimsy the plastic is but it's really not that bad.

Vintage cobra Stinger drivers go for as much as the new Stinger + driver. The plastic is softer but it’s not terrible - It’s a lot like the 1998 Rattler 4wd. It’s all personal preference at this point but I’m a supporter and enjoyed putting my Stinger together and throwing the stickers on it. It’s a nice addition to my Cobra Motorpool. I really like the new Stinger driver too.

There are two important considerations to remember here. First, action figures are an oil related product. There is an active war on oil right now, and when gas prices go up, toys will go up. This is mitigated somewhat by the toys being manufactured overseas but the reduction in oil production affects the global supply. Secondly, companies are not raising prices to be "pirates." Rather what we are seeing is the US dollar in rapid devaluation. The excessive overprinting of cash under current Fed leadership is causing the dollar to become worth less. Prices across the board are going up because the value of the currency is plummeting. Unfortunately the prices going up are behind the curve, so we can expect to be looking back at $35 vehicles fondly in a year or two. This is why I continue to maintain that the possibility of the HasLabs Hiss Tank running into a production problem which halts it may be a 50/50 prospect. The cash collected by Hasbro to produce it was 2022 value, the production costs may be 2023 costs. This is the nature of inflation. Governments don't have money. If it is printing this much, the citizens pay for it out of our own pockets. So, toys are no longer a luxury for most of us proles like me anymore, now just the boughie adults can buy toys. The first cause is less responsible than the second cause in my opinion.

I've always had to pop the roof to get figures into my ME version. It was nice that they added more legroom but they really needed more headroom and bigger doors, too. One of my buddies had the Street Fighter version back in the day and I remember getting figures in and out of that was a hassle even with the smaller figures of the era.

It is sad that they didn't fix the problem, but at least is not new. I understand that Hasbro wants to photo-copy the old toys, and I'm fine with that.
At least, the soft plastic helps here. Popping the roof out or even forcing the figure through the rollbars doesn't makes me feel like it is going to break, because the plastic is flexible. I feel like taking out the roof many times is actually ok with this plastic. |

A lot of people seem to think that Hasbro is raising prices.

I'm still surprised the Haslab HISS was only $300, especially with the electronic elements inside plus the multiple newly sculpted figures, it would be bananas to expect more or bigger Haslabs past the HISS I think |

i never owned a stinger but I love this one. and i realized something about all the new retro o-rings.. i didnt like the new softer plastic but what I really like is they arent prone to break like the older toys.. so thats a plus. that means they will last longer so I really love the new stinger and think its awesome. I got 2 of them btw.
