Hey everyone!
I’d like to take a moment to talk to you about something very important. What is it, you ask? Well, since I know talking about it will lose most people, I’ll let these pictures speak in my stead! (Check follow up posts for more pictures!) Hail Cobra! These are the brand new IDS Action Figure Stands made by Marauder John over at Marauder "Gun-Runners" Home Page! They’re an extremely creative design that blends all the elements that matter to a good display – sturdiness, compatibility and conservative size. As you can see in the pictures provided, other stands are nice but lack a certain something. Some are too wide and cumbersome, some lack stability, while others just suck (the retail ones, in particular). The stands from Marauder are just stellar – you can lock them all into any arrangement you desire… straight lines, huge formations, even levels! When John showed these off at the Kansas City Joe Con, I’ll admit I was skeptical. Over the past ten or so years, I must have bought every one of my figures their own individual stand, catered to their era (RAH or 25th) and had no intention of doing at all over again. But once I saw his displays – rank and rifle formations where no one could tip over and ruin the whole set-up… I was sold! The idea of having all my figures lined up in tightly knit groups overwhelmed my purse strings, and well… here we are! These stands follow the same peg design as the ones founds at SMALLJOES.COM - GI JOE 3 3/4" Action Figures, Military Toys & Models, Shopping Store (of which I own hundreds and love for their aesthetic and stylishness) in that it starts out at the tip just a hair smaller than it is at the base. Thus, you can use them to accommodate any figure from ‘82 to ’94! Granted, the earlier figures will ‘hover’ a tad above the stand, but you can always remedy this by bending the knee and making it look like your figure has his foot up on the peg. I personally never push my luck and stop when I meet even a hint of resistance, as I broke a Scrap Iron heel early on in my collecting career and never recovered emotionally. XD Having moved from a house that was three times the size of the one I’m currently in, it goes without saying that space is a concern. These stands will be a great help in capitalizing on limited display areas, which I presume is an issue for most if not all of us. Tom

Know how I know this? Because you posted a declassified flyer which was meant for fun as a NEWS ITEM. No one would ever tell you anything because the VERY FIRST THING you would do is post it here. Probably incorrectly. Last edited by Tom-1; 08-22-2009 at 05:49 PM.. |

I like the stands, but I think that Alley Viper is going to get in trouble soon if he's trying to whisper sweet nothings into Cobra Commander's ear. ;)

Seems cool, any chance you can show us a picture of the stand by itself and possibly explain why or how it's more stable and such?
It looks like it's in an odd shape, I'm assuming that adds to the stability? |

Samantha,
go to Marauder "Gun-Runners" Home Page and they're right there on the front page! (Also, just a recommendation for those who might be on the fence: the Smalljoes.com plastic display case is really rad :-) ) Tom

I'm really Excited about these!
I don't really like the 25th stands they are too big, and i prefer stands with nothing on them. I wanted something just like the old vintage stands but made for 25th pegs. I always have that problem when i try to display my army builders that there is allot of wasted space cause of how big the stands are. If i had stands like these i can do stuff with much tighter formations and fit more toys on my shelf. Plus i like that interlock so you can have evenly spaced troops. |

Techno-Viper: I want one, I just don't know if I should in this economy... McCullen: Our financing can't be beat! Secto-Viper: You'd be a fool NOT to buy, Greg! As you can see, by itself, the stand is fairly plain. It sacrifices the elegance you might find in a Smalljoes or Protech stand for functionality. Buy ten of them (and seriously, who buy ONE action figure stand? :-/ ) and you have a sheet of stands that lock together to prevent a rotten o-ring from letting a torso tip over your entire display. Cobra displays won't have to worry about the weak-knees of a Cobra soldier collapsing on his comrades! Again, it lacks the 'presentation' element that other stands have, but I'd rather have a reliable STAND than a show-off space-eater. That's just me ;-) Tom
