Your outside the box thinking yielded a dope as fuck result which gives the figure an amazing "pop," and makes him really stand out. Also, that shade of blue invokes a feeling of cold weather if you get what I'm saying. A gold Steel Brigade helmet? A Triple T? Wait the Triple T is a vehicle.

Now that I've gotten your attention with the click bait title on the 12th I came up on two B.A.T.s and two Alley Vipers at the Target at Atlantic Terminal in downtown Brooklyn. As I was posting on FB about finding a B.A.T. a dude in the store enters the action figure aisle sees me with my B.A.T. and offers me the three other figures making the best day I've had since I've rentered the game last year.
The figures the Alley Viper is a good solid figure, while the B.A.T. is dope. The B.A.T. is probably the best army builder in the line thus far. My only issue with the Alley Viper is the lack of camo on the back of the figure and of course the color scheme. I'm simply not feeling the orange. Remember when the notion behind Classified was that it was supposed to be a modern update to the 3.75" line, but Lenny and 'em abandoned that idea when we rejected the garish colors and Nerf guns? Well the JOE team kinda "threw the baby out with the bath water," when they did a 180? and went with giving us a 6" facsimile of a figure that we owned in the 80's. Truth be told certain characters are in desperate need of an update, (shout out to Quick Kick and Shipwreck,) and the Alley Viper is one of them. Mind you I never owned a v1 Alley Viper so I don't have the emotional attachment to the v1 figure, with that being said the Alley Viper's debut in Classified should have been of him in urban camo. If I were brand manager, (assuming that they make that decision,) I would have did a general release of the A.V. in urban camo then pissed the fandom off by going for the blatant cash grab and released the Alley Viper in his original colors as a store exclusive. First off, I think the AV is way better than the BAT. Yeah, the BAT is cool, but it's just a mindless robot and the only purpose they serve is to be dropped down elevator shafts until they crash through the floor. Next, Alley Vipers have a shield and lots of gear. They're a tactical unit. They aren't there for stealth purposes, they're there to distract you so Cobra's other forces can get to where they need to go. You're going to focus your attentions on the guys you see with ease who are in front of you with their big heavy shields. Why is a group whose job is to swarm a building going to need camouflage coloring? Third, they made a smart move with the direction they moved the line into. The neon colored lights and Iron Man armor bits were too much for GI Joe. Everything since Wave 3 has been absolutely solid. The only figures that were perfection the first time around have been Destro and Cobra Commander. Finally, Shipwreck is going to be perfect no matter how they do him. Same with Covergirl, who both need to come out sooner rather than later along with General Hawk. BTW, the link you posted does not work.

I will say out of all the figures I have gotten in this line I just got the Alley Viper last week and before even opening it I think it gave me the biggest smile to date with this line. Yes, the colors are silly but I think that is why I used him so much as kid you never missed him in the bin and his gear is cool as heck. I would like to see a few variants in toned down color schemes as well, but I would have always bought a bright orange one (I actually got 2)

Happened to be reading some DD-era comics and noticed this wonderful change for the Alley Vipers' look.
