It's OK to like both, but maybe one slightly edges out the other.

I prefer o-ring, but have tubs of ME figures to prove I like both. As a toy, I think the 2000-2006 o-ring figures (classic, not not "newsculpt) were the best when done well, as they addressed the issue of broken thumbs with softer plastic. The comic pack Firefly was darn-near flawless with the improved headsculpt and V1 style colors and full compliment of accessories, for example. Thanks to the heads, a lot of the comic-pack figures would have been the definitive versions of figures if not for the colors and inferior substitute parts.
But if I were into making dio-stories, I'd pick ME. |

On its face value, I prefer ME. Don't really see the need for outdated sculpts or releasing 40 year old figures.
However, I wouldn't mind modern sculpts using the oring system

O-ring for sure. I like the ME stuff, but it seems like a bit of a rip-off when there's basically 3 or 4 different molds they just mix & match with different heads and webgear. (I know, I know, it's 1982 style. lol) I also think ME leaves gaps in weird places and can look bit wonky at times. I like the look and durability of O-ring style. They look both more and less real simultaneously, and that mix just screams GI Joe.

Vintage RAH has a higher batting average than ME by far, which only makes sense since, as the best toy line of all time (IMO), RAH has a higher batting average than everybody! And so in this regard, RAH is the better overall and I'd never, ever part with my (substantial) vintage collection.
At its best though, ME beats O-ring IMO. ME figs like Airtight, Sci-Fi, Ultimate Storm Shadow, 25ht BAT, etc. blow their vintage counterparts out of the water. At this point in my life, I'm for quality over quantity, and so ME for me. Just my two cents.

It's like asking someone if they which Era of Van Halen they like. No matter how great Sammy was - if you have to think about the 'perfect' Van Halen song, it always comes down to Eruption or Running with the Devil. |
