I prefer the Modern Era 4-inch figures over the 3.75-inch O-Ring figures.
To me, one of them (O-Rings) represented where I once was with ARAH, and the other represented where my collection was at in the present (Modern Era). Each year with the 1:18 scale should include refinements and upgrades, or else why should I keep collecting these same characters/vehicles over and over again? The newest 1:18 scale Retro O-Ring line just doesn't make any sense to me... I'll try a few figures, but I'm not happy with it.

Those were followed-up by the New Sculpt figures, i.e., GvC, ST, VvV, and DTC. It wasn't after all that that we got the ME figures.

True it was a slow decent into madness. Regardless, I like the new course correction. It gives modern and vintage their own distinct lines that?s not just separated by a quarter inch.

I grew up with o-ring figures and that is what I love. I don't begrudge anyone liking ME figures but they hold no appeal for me. I don't understand their gangly proportions or the ugly hinge in the middle of their chests. And why are almost all of them hunched over with the head tilted forward? The design aesthetic makes no sense to me.

I probably have posted on here before, but I totally agree with this. POC/Ren/30th/Ret/50th ME figures are the Ultimate versions of these figures IMO. The Vietnam Retro figures got too disproportionate for me. Maybe we will get those ME ultimate figures we never got sometime in the future.
Moving forward I am all in on the o-rings though and Hasbro bringing them back is a full circle moment for me. |

I am not going to spend my money on O-ring after I had better articulated modern figure. I'm not trying to recreate my childhood exactly how it was if I can improve it.
According to the survey here there are a small majority of collectors who prefer modern figures as well. Hipefully Hasbro take notes of that and will not kill the line. |

Hiss tank has traditionally been ME heavy for some reason. The poll is not necessarily indicative of gi joe collectors as a whole. When you go to GI joe themed toy shows, do you see more ME or vintage? The ones out here are much more vintage and classified heavy with ME a very distant third.
