Why would we be pissed? The flight crew was a stretch goal. It wasn't met.
The Cobra crew was bait to reel in new backers. It worked. As for "overpriced" - Completely retooled vehicle, bunch of extra accessories and before stretch goals, came with 5 figures. Those figures knock $100 off of the Skystriker's price tag, bringing it to $130. If anyone can find a complete Skytriker for $130, please let me know. The flip side is that the lower runs, not available in stores also lead to higher secondary market value.

Yes I am happy that it succeeded. And I happily backed it. But isn't it some BS that we are getting a single cobra flight crew figure, when we all know we really wanted those two generic joe flight crewmen? I mean, it is the same body just a different head... and while the cobra tack on was a nice gesture, its a punch in the face if you wanted the joe flight crew. I don't know about you, but when I think of the Sky Striker, I do not think of CC, an inept cobra trooper pilot, and a nameless, faceless flight crewman better suited waving Rattlers around an air strip.
It really sticks in my craw... This is for Bob and Steve, so many of us wanted your silent red and yellow majesty on the flight deck of our Flagg... you will be missed. If you have watched some of Scott Neitlich's YouTube videos he has talked about the costs of making new figures, especially tooling. He has stated that tooling is really really really expensive. Like over $100,000. So that is why toy companies tend to use parts or re-release figures over and over again. They have to offset the cost of making the figure and get the most out of that tooling. So Hasbro will be making the ground crew members bodies minus a head for the Cobra ground crew figure. So based on what Neitlich has said it would not make business sense then to just leave it at that. They need to use that mold more and get more figures out of it that they can sell. I will be surprised if we don't see them. I've posted multiple times in the HasLab thread hoping Emily would see it that they should do a box set of all seven colors of a U.S. Navy deck crew (https://www.history.navy.mil/content...ighres_PDF.pdf). If they want to make it an even 8 throw in another Cobra ground crew guy in the set. To me it seems like a no brainer Hasbro Pulse exclusive item. |

I backed the Heroquest Haslab and backers just missed the final stretch goal of that campaign. A dragon and quest book. Hasbro did'nt announce it right away, but backers got that dragon final goal as a "thanks". We came close to 18000 for the ground crew. I wouldn't be surprised if they got tossed into the box. Is it a guarantee? No, but with all the interest in those two figs, I also would'nt be surprised if (as others have already stated) we get them in some form in the future.

Then you missed out on the greatest era of toys in history. There's a reason there are numerous documentaries being made about the era that brought us o-ring JOEs, Masters of the Universe figures and more. It isn't junk.

The new modern Joes to me are leaps and bounds better than the vintage o-ring figures. However, due to what happened to me this week, I have a new appreciation of the o-ring figures as it takes me back to when I was a kid and with no internet, always go to the store with my mom hoping to see new never before seen figures and also hoping she was in a generous enough mood to let me buy a figure.
With that said, I am really happy we got enough backers to get Rip Cord. I honestly never really cared for the ground crew. It would be nice, but not the reason I backed the Skystriker.

Ugh, that dude is a corporate shill, you shouldn't rely on him alone for your toy industry information. We've known for DECADES that Hasbro repaints a lot of stuff to take most of new molds. Also, 100,000 is not expensive for a 11,000,000,000 company - it's their business, they are getting RICHER by spending 100,000 every time, over and over, on every toy line. They get a 3,800,000+ cash injection FIRST and then get to spend 500,000 in new molds - that's HasLab. Enough with "poor Hasbro".
