I thought the whole DTC thing was great. I'd be thrilled if they began it again with ME figures.
FSS was good I suppose, but it generally left my wallet hurting. |

What was the cost-per-figure of FSS at the time and did it change from the first to the final wave? I missed it in real-time and the aftermarket is insane.

Does anyone know why Scarlett is going for four to five times her MSRP on eBay? I haven't been able to find one in an area Wal-Mart, but I'm not about to pay $90 for her.

If you're looking for a loose one, I'm pretty sure I saw someone in the BST here not long ago have one listed.

Yep I'm one of those who paid $100 for a Scarlett, right after Pulsecon. Why? I never saw her at retail, she was the only one I didn't have, and it was pretty clear that the Retro line was dead.. I'm sorry, "on hold". Wish I would have bought her when she was ~$60 but I was hoping they would do another run and sneak her into a future wave like they did with Snake Eyes.

i just don't understand what happened to 3 3/4" collecting. im 50 in the late 70s though the entire 80s i played with and loved 3 3/4" figures, pretty much exclusively, if there were other lines i was interested in and then i realized they weren't in my scale i lost all interest.
i stopped actually playing with them probably around 87ish, but then when i graduated in 90 i just happened upon a toy seller in a flea market and found out i could start buying nice condition versions of all the toys i beat the hell out of for years and looked like crap now and even better all the figures i didn't get because i was poor white trash. so i became an adult toy collector, when they started making Star Wars figures again in the 90s i got excited. when those crappy figures started getting made better i got even more excited that i could get better looking more acurate modern versions of the old figures i liked. then the Joe 25th line started and i was super excited that i could start getting Joes again in a more modern design and no dumb broken o rings and thumbs to deal with. and all the while for years i would go into forums and everyone would be discussing new and upcoming G.I. Joe and Star Wars figures and it would just be endless complaining about articulation, there was just never enough for people. then at some point 6" figures started getting popular and it irritated me because it felt to me like an already small figure collecting community was splitting in two so now figures were selling even less and thus making the companies even less interested in making them.then they started making even more and more lines in 6" and putting more and more effort into them and i felt like the younger people just starting to get into collecting were more and more going with 6" and it felt like less 4" was being made. then stuff like those Reaction figures started becoming popular, and slowly as 4" lines seem to be rarer and rarer. retro style 4" figure are starting to become more and more common, figures with minimal articulation and purposefully done mediocre sculpts. and now i watch these 6" figure i have zero interest in keep getting better and better looking and the 3 3/4" or 1:18 i love get worse and worse looking and people seem to be fully embracing all this retro massive step backwards stuff. what happened to all those people i remember endlessly complaining the sculpts weren't as good as they could be and the articulation points could be more. i don't want Kenner style 5 POA star Wars figures, i don't want O Ring figures, i feel like i am the only one left that wants 1:18 figures in modern style and decent sculpts. if it weren't for a few kickstarter lines i would pretty much be out of collecting all together with practically no offerings coming along out side of retro style stuff. i still cannot comprehend these companies paying sculptors but telling them not to make them look too good and detailed. |

Hell, remember in the mid 90s when GI Joe fell victim to the weird 5", pre-posed 5 POA style that a lot of action figures were doing at the time (RIP Extreme)? These things are cyclical. And as AWOL pointed out, looked at another way, it's probably never been a better time for fans of ME-style figures, with all the upstart studios like Boss Fight, Fresh Monkey Fiction, Marauders, Chicken Fried Toys, and so forth. But if you're also a big-time Joe fan, it might also be a good time to try your hand at customs

I will be spending this hiatus waiting for my gold Eagle Force figures, CFT Calvary, MTF Vietnam figures, and the Roboskull. Maybe Hasbro with get it together, re-make the POC molds, and give us the remaining Concept Vault figures we never got (Tele-Viper, Stinger Driver).
