That's one thing I thought was refreshing with the DTC line, instead of restarting with the usual Duke, Snake-Eyes, etc they started off with some new or unusual figures; current collectors got to continue building their collection while those jumping it got something fun

Given the choice between "repaints and already tooled items" and "vapor and wishes," complaining about the former comes off as sour grapes.
At least MOTU collectors get to buy something.

Looking at the two versions of him, that second one is essentially a repaint but with all new tooling. Dude has a boring closet.

I figured Hasbro would at least get through the 82? joes simply on repaint potential. Excluding Scarlett they needed to tool up 3 more head sculpts, two more sets of arms, 4 more chests/backs, & 1 set of upper legs. I?ll be generous & say 30% of the VAMP was done with the Stinger?s chassis. Tool up a JUMP platform & throw in the Missile Command Headquarters in all its card stock glory & they could have given us a satisfying collection with 19 figures. Though I?d buy them if available, I could forget about the MOBAT, FLAK, HAL, & MMS.

A few new figures/heads, repaints, one small vehicle and a playset; all looks good though. Proper wrap up if this is it. They have done all the key pieces and then some.

I think Hasbro is just sitting on the MASK rights and not doing anything with it, which is a shame. |

Yeah, it's a great time to be a Motu Origins collector. I blew a lot of money yesterday on the huge drop of figures and Point Dread/ Talon Fighter, and it was awesome! Mattel have been killing it with Motu over the past 2-3 years, and it hasn't slowed, which is impressive. I can't wait for Snake Mountain, and hopefully the Fright Zone.
