"Two years ago, we outlined what our selection criteria would be,? recalled the CEO. ?Basically, ?Can we generate $50 million in revenue at a 10% operating profit?? and ?Can we grow to $100 million or more revenue at a 15% operating profit on a line?? And so basically, we?ve chosen the lines to outsource that we don?t think meet those thresholds.? "
From Cocks earnings call recently, when talking about licensing out stuff like Power Rangers and My Little Pony. I guess we can extrapolate from this how bad the Hasbro O-Ring relaunch did. Surprised given the Haslab and Stinger sell out. had the o-ring figures for the 40th: 1. been on the shelves at target and walmart 2. not been 40$ 3. not been two packs 4. the crossover transformers/gijoes on the shelves 5. greedy dickhead ceo (not hyperbole, look at every article written about him) not lead a toy company treading water from behind a mountain of cocaine we'd be reading something differently now. yeah not putting them on store shelves at all was a great idea too. we all tend to forget that there are people that just are not dialed into our toy nerd websites and toys are for kids (first and foremost)

Speaking of corporate greed, Super7 might not want to get TOO successful, because it'd end up just getting bought out by Hasbro (or another big company), and then we'll have no avenue for these.

I don't think we have anything to worry about there.

Big companies will buy smaller successful companies just to eliminate competition, in some cases.

While Hasbro very publicly caters to the adult collector, we're still a very small fraction of their overall revenue. They're in the same realm as NECA, where while they are "toy" makers, they aren't really in the same field as Hasbro.

super7 isn't competition for hasbro, though, and is very far from being competition.

Yeah I don't know either way. Could hasbro buy super7? Yeah. Would they want to? I dont know. Is super7 in competition with hasbro? Nah. They're selling licensed hasbro products and actually make toys for adult collectors. Hasbro keeps forgetting that they make toys for kids.
All depends on how much ceo dickhead wants super7 or even knows about it so he can mess that up too. |
