To me, it is as well! The original figure has evil guy all over him, but this one is more subtle, and can be used whenever a scientist guy is needed. I loved that he came with a laptop and two test tubes. At that time, that was the only computer accessory I had, and it was highly valued for me. Unfortunately, I lost the tubes long time ago.

I do wonder if it?s just simply that they aren?t enough o ring fans left.
It?s a real shame and as excited as I was to get a snake eyes again I still had my original mark two snakes so something different might have sold better?

Like gamers that are into retro-games, it's a niche sub-market.

It's like the Haslab, while $230 was economic friendly, most preferred to buy the classic one from the 80's in good condition instead of waiting months for the Haslab that was more expensive. |

There's still plenty of o-ring fans but from browsing here it seems the majority have gone to retro collecting instead of taking interest in Hasbro's recent offerings which fell short or weren't what fans were looking for...likely one of the reasons Hasbro shelved o-ring for now.
It's like the Haslab, while $230 was economic friendly, most preferred to buy the classic one from the 80's in good condition instead of waiting months for the Haslab that was more expensive. I think there are enough O-Ring collectors, but more importantly MOTU Origins shows us there are enough consumers who can *become* collectors, provided the company puts effort into delivering the customers what they want. $42 2-packs of non-original paint app figures on flimsy cardboard with (sigh, fine, I'll admit) multilingual cardbacks, or packed into $70-90 cross-branded vehicles that never existed before was how they tried to re-enter the market. It does not appear to have succeeded, and mixed with the timing of plastic-free packaging, led to too much trouble for too little ROI. If there are too few O-Ring collectors, Hasbro could have changed that. They likely have not through their 2022 O-Ring strategy.
