I agree. I'd love to see four sets of six per year - two sets with one figure from each year '82-'87, one set with six "best of" from '88-'94, and one set of brand new characters like Dr. Venom and Kwinn.

I don't know...to the ones saying that Hasbro probably scrapped the o-ring line, it just doesn't really make sense to start a Skystriker Haslab, which funded very well, and then turn around and end o-ring.

And for sure - it's weird that there wasn't an update now that we have our Skystrikers. But as many others have pointed out, when Hasbro is dropping something they let us know. As of now no news is better than bad news. As long as production times take, there's no way there wasn't something else in the pipeline to follow the Stinger. I don't buy that it was a one-off. Delusional optimist that I am, I'm still waiting for a modest-to-large reveal of o-ring product; possibly even under that mysterious "Retroverse" label that Emily used twice. |

I was thinking, didn't Hasbro just set up a new brand team that's sole focus is Retro toys? Maybe the delay with any news is from the new team getting set up. I would assume they are quite busy, what with five or six waves of Star Wars Retro Collection this year, and the Indiana Jones Retro collection and maybe they're the team working on those G1 Transformers reissues in cartoon colors.

I saw the animated colors Starscream the other day and was tempted. It looks great. But I JUST packed up all of my Transformers (except for the Joe crossovers). |

As for the seemingly randomness of the Stinger, I suspect the Stinger along with the 3 2-packs were originally intended to be the next wave in the Walmart-exclusive retro line, but that was scrapped for some reason (pandemic delays, Walmart deciding they want Classified itself, etc.). That's speculation on my part, but they really did just kinda come out of nowhere, and it feels like they were planned well ahead of time for something more than just a Pulse exclusive.

I have a feeling that when Hasbro saying "retro", they don't just mean recreations of old toys, but using "retro" properties like GI Joe and making modern updates like Classified. I could be wrong though.

With GI Joe, it apparently just applies to "retro-like" packaging. But even there I wonder...it feels like maybe the Walmart Retro line that we got was a sort of placeholder. Maybe it was supposed to be o-ring, but it took longer than anticipated to bring o-ring figures back or something. I say that only because the o-ring product we got (at least the 3 2-packs and the Stinger) sure seem like something that fits what Walmart apparently were after in their love-affair with retro toy lines a lot better than the ME figures we got, or especially the retro-packaged Classified stuff.
