I also infer from listening to Lenny and Emily that a tenet of the Retro line is reproducing the old "experience" as much as the actual toy.
Emily made it a point to emphasize how many sticker sheets the Skystriker HasLab will come with so you can recreate that experience. On the flip-side, the HISS HasLab is modernized so it's got tampos and is ready to go out of the box. Lenny also noted that he prefers the old school way of building your toys, almost like a model kit. We see some of that with the Stinger and I believe that approach is what helped keep the cost on that down. I expect to see a similar approach for the next Retro vehicle, and hopefully a similarly digestible price. |

Let it be known that I'm excited it sounds like we are getting more, but bummed out with the stickers. I hate putting stickers on because I want it all to be absolutely perfect and that makes stickers stressful for me! But I would rather put on my own stickers than have nothing!

I think what we've gotten so far have been more to see how much appetite there is for the line before they really get into it next year, and since it's been largely well received, I cant imagine they're not going to "go big" with it like they initially said they would. This is all just speculation on my part, but based on what I've heard and read from Emily and Lenny. If you have info to suggest otherwise, I'd appreciate knowing. |

So I just noticed that HIssTank's coverage of the media event didn't match up with Racktime Rob's report on WOJM. There was more than "no news" revealed about O-ring. Someone asked about the packaging as it related to the O-Ring figures, and the reply was that the bubble packaging approval for Retro wasn't planned for stuff coming out in 2023. That means that either we are getting a period of plastic-free (which could just mean figure-and-vehicle packs like the Stinger) or nothing until 2024, with only the Skystriker coming out that year.
Here's the video timestamp for reference; maybe y'all will get a different take on it than I did: https://youtu.be/987jky9lj-I?t=644 |

I don't know exactly what's coming, but I find it hard to believe that we would get nothing until 2024 if they said they were going to go big in 2023, and then said there'll be an update in a couple months.
I thought it was mentioned that they were keeping the plastic bubbles for the o-ring packaging, because they counted it as a part of the product and overall experience, and not just packaging for the product. I'm sure they'll go plastic free with vehicles like the Stinger. |

There were probably plans for plastic-free O-ring packaging that are too late-stage to be cancelled at this point. |

Theoretically that was always the plan and they announced it when they wanted to announce it. We shall see. I just want more modern O-rings at this point. The few we've gotten are lonely on the shelf. |

We're assuming that there was a late corporate switch on retro-style packaging for Marvel/SW/GI Joe that resulted in the PR email that went out.
