Slaughter is one reason I don't watch the second season of the cartoon. He just yells all of his lines. It's beyond grating.
I like for people to get what they want from these lines so I'm happy for Slaughter's many fans. But he is one figure I won't have in any scale. Without going back and re-watching the rest of the season, I believe Sarge was introduced in the same episodes alongside Serpentor. If you look at the production order of Season 2, "Arise, Serpentor, Arise" actually falls somewhere in the middle of the season with the rest of the stupid episodes following it into the movie. Thankfully there is very little material for this period if you view the episodes in their production order. You are only dealing with about 8 episodes where he actually shows up. All the other Season 2 episodes that predate 600-73 are without Serpentor (as far as I know). Production order / Airing order / Description 600-73 1 "Arise, Serpentor, Arise!, Part 1" Ray Lee Story by : Buzz Dixon 600-74 2 "Arise, Serpentor, Arise!, Part 2" Ray Lee Story by : Buzz Dixon 600-75 3 "Arise, Serpentor, Arise!, Part 3" Ray Lee Story by : Buzz Dixon 600-76 4 "Arise, Serpentor, Arise!, Part 4" Ray Lee Story by : Buzz Dixon 600-77 5 "Arise, Serpentor, Arise!, Part 5" Ray Lee Story by : Buzz Dixon 600-78 23 "The Most Dangerous Thing in the World" Ray Lee Buzz Dixon October 28, 1986 600-78 While General Hawk was attending a NATO meeting, Cobra hacks into the Defense Department's computer system and upgrades Shipwreck, Dial-Tone and Lifeline to the rank of Colonel. 600-79 21 "Ninja Holiday" Ray Lee Michael Charles Hill October 22, 1986 Cobra Commander plots to find an assassin that he needs to eliminate Serpentor. 600-80 24 "Nightmare Assault" Ray Lee Marv Wolfman October 29, 1986 When Doctor Mindbender creates a machine that turns the Joes' dreams into nightmares, Lowlight is the only person who can help his friends overcome their fears and foil Mindbender's evil plot. 600-81 26 "Joe's Night Out" Ray Lee David Schwartz November 10, 1986 Leatherneck, Wet Suit, and Dial-Tone visit a new nightclub which is a Cobra rocket in disguise, sending the trio to space. 600-82 25 "Second Hand Emotions" Ray Lee Carla Conway and Gerry Conway October 31, 1986 Doctor Mindbender constructs a musical instrument to influence the Joes' emotions. Meanwhile, Lifeline makes peace with his father who seems displeased with his son's career choice as a member of the Joes. 600-83 27 "Not a Ghost of a Chance" Ray Lee Sharman Divono November 13, 1986 Cobra is suspected of shooting down an experimental military jet and the Joes must prove that they are behind the attack. 600-84 28 "Sins of Our Fathers" Ray Lee Teleplay by : Buzz Dixon and Story by Steve Gerber November 18, 1986 Dial-Tone is dismissed from the Joe team and ends up helping Cobra Commander raise a monster from the ruins of Castle Destro in order to destroy Serpentor. 600-85 29 "In the Presence of Mine Enemies" Ray Lee Chris Weber and Karen Willson November 19, 1986 When Slip-Stream is shot down by a female Strato-Viper near an abandoned Cobra laboratory, both hunt each other down. 600-86 30 "Into Your Tent I Will Silently Creep" Ray Lee Buzz Dixon and Charles Hill November 20, 1986 Followed by GI Joe the Movie Last edited by BizCopperhead; 04-27-2022 at 12:01 AM.. |

You're definitely right, I tend to forget Night Force, Tiger Force, and Slaughter's Marauders when citing versions. I don't collect the "repaint subsets" except for Python Patrol, so they tend to slip my mind.

Slaughter was introduced in the first episode of the Arise Serpentor miniseries. He shows up and defeats an army of BATs (who had shown themselves invincible to the Joes' weapons) in hand to hand combat. It's completely ridiculous. And the series only goes downhill from there.

I actually remember as a kid being all "WTF?" and getting salty about that. Now I just think it's goofy fun like the rest of the cartoon.

Now, I love it all. I love the part where after Sarge shows up he rallies the other Joes to come and punch the invincible robots that their lasers weren?t damaging. |

Same. I hated Sarge because he was a real person and it jacked with my Joe fantasy. I really liked the less outlandish parts of Joe.
