Reaction to the Mobile PIT has been sort of mixed. However, there is justified skepticism that a large Headquarters style play-set would sell. Here's one way Hasbro could move forward with a new JOE HQ while hedging its bets.
First, produce a fairly big Comms Center/Control Room/Hanger as the core of a new PIT. Then, in addition, follow up on the Pursuit of Cobra idea by producing additional urban, arctic, jungle, and desert playsets that could either stack to form additional levels of the PIT (ie the different environment training levels) or just be used as individual diorama-style playsets. This way, the various pieces of the PIT would have some appeal even to those who don't want a huge HQ piece (especially if they include 1 or 2 sought-after figures), and could be expanded on (if successful) or canceled (if not). Thoughts? Would you buy all/part of such a set? |

People don't like canceled/shortpacked build-a-thing sets, and I say just get rid of any intent of future PIT stuff at this point. If we see something big next year it will be the PIT repackaged into a new box with a different logo, or a repaint of the PIT. Hasbro doesn't want to spend a lot producing new stuff that won't sell enough, especially on something like that.

I did not like the toy Pit bec. there was no mobile headquarters in the movie. It is also not practical to make a headquarters bec. the toy would be too large. In the movie, most of the Pit scenes were in the place where they park the Howlers. If they want to start small with some of the rooms shown in the movie, they could start with the office of General Hawk, the gym with the treadmills, monitor room, etc.

I wouldn't mind buying a modular playset and building the Pitt "My way". Sure I wouldn't buy every item but I would buy extras of the parts I wanted.
Good ideal.

In the beginning of the movie, the Joes were together in a room where they showed the picture of the Baroness on the monitor.
You can also have a playset to stage the training fight between Duke and Snake Eyes with Sgt Stone watching them. If you had a gym room playset, you can put Scarlett and Baroness there on the treadmills like what was shown in the movie. Cover Girl was killed in the office of General Hawk. General Hawk would need to sit somewhere in a Pit playset. You will need a walk way to stage the fight between Scarlett and the Baroness. |

Making it modular and totally "build your way" but with completely stand alone pieces might work.
I'd love a monitor room playset, an office not so much. A small office off a monitor room would be okay but not as a seperate piece. The problem with "build a set" is that you usually end up with pieces that are short packed and/or that no one wants. Say one of the sets is an office. That's kind of boring, why would anyone want to pay for one of those? Now if you make each piece something that is completely stand alone, meaning you could get maximum enjoyment out of it without having to buy any of the other pieces, but that all the pieces when put together make one big playset but again you don't need to buy all the pieces to make that giant playset playable... that would be a pain in the ass to design, but it would be cool and probably work.

Someone on this site already made a custom PIT using a multi-floor open sided shelf. with some castle walls inside used to wall off the different sections. I was impressed! As for the Mobile PIT.. if you have played the EA game you would understand Hasbro's motive for releasing the toys they are releasing. Its more about the game than it has been the Movie.
