I hope not, TBH. I like them as they are.

Everyone's definition of A-list and B-list can differ, but once Bludd is released, are there any A-listers left that haven't gotten at least one figure in the line's first year? Legends makes classic comic designs. Transformers churns out G1 versions of its characters. Star Wars Black Series has vintage cardbacks. These are bigger lines, of course, but they are good indicators of what Hasbro does with $20+ action figure lines. It would be somewhat surprising if we haven't gotten some ARAH/Sunbow type designs (at least for cardbacks) by 2023 or so.

We've actually gotten quite a few figures so far. It feels like fits and starts because of distribution issues, but there's a decent number of the true heavy hitters out there.

I'd also think Bazooka, Alpine, Quick Kick and Shipwreck would be in the running. Without typing out a massive post, yeah, with such a massive roster of characters to choose from, the "A" list is damned big.

I'd consider CG's and the crimson twins A-listers, and if Bludd fits that mold, Mindbender does as well (as much as I don't really care if they make him or not). There's no proper Cobra Officer yet, and BATS are going to be up there on most people's lists.

I could see Serpentor in the works. While he's one of those 50/50 fan favorites, the fact that the first Storm Shadow we got was the Ninja Force deco shows that they're willing to get outside of what would normally be expected from an early Joe launch.

If the line goes on long enough and is successful enough? Sure, I could definitely see a line of "retro" Classified figures. Hasbro knows there's money in that presentation, certainly.
But it would probably be: A: A few years down the line. B: An exclusive of some kind. and C: Tied in to a major anniversary for either GI Joe as a whole or ARAH-style Joe in particular (40th Anniversary of ARAH, maybe?). MAYBE it might continue if the assortment was very successful. Also, I'd suggest we would not get anything remotely approaching a full roster on those, or if we did it would take a LONG time. Quote:
I did the same thing when making my own short list above.

Then again, given we've not heard a peep about further vehicles for the line I'm getting the impression most retailers not named Target said "Nah, just figures for now, thanks." Though this does beg the question of what any potential Joe items for "Virtual SDCC" this year might be. Last edited by Jmacq1; 05-11-2021 at 10:47 AM.. |

No. The JOE fanbase isn't big enough to support such a line.

Right. Who is buying the Classified figures now then? Generic action figure fans? "Ooo, ooo, ooo, this blue guy with a big Cobra on his chest goes great with my Clone Trooper display!"
Legends does vintage looks. Star Wars does vintage packaging. MOTU brought back vintage figure designs (for reasons I can't understand since they look awful). Even Power Rangers features the original looks of the characters. But I'm sure Hasbro has no intention of ever releasing Classified figures in something closer to their original look, both in terms of sculpt and packaging.

So if the JOE fanbase is big enough to support such a line then why isn't Hasbro tapping into this revenue stream? Also, if the JOE fanbase is as big as you think it is why does this board have so little activity? Quote:
By the way, (on top of testing well with the kids who live in El Segundo by Mattel,) the M.O.T.U. fanbase is big enough to support such a line.

(And, by the way, I'm a huge MOTUC collector and He-Man fan. I actually watch an episode or two a month of Filmation's shows.)
