I had asked him whether he was going to have shrunken Classified heads and he mentioned that one might be available. Looks like his store may re-open middle of October. I’m looking forward to seeing what else he has too.

Still testing the similarities for fun here. Forgive my nerdiness.
Test 1: split image Test 2A: overlapping image Test 2B: split image Test 3A: overlapping image Test 3B: split image Pretty much done exploring this idea. Classified Scarlett and Retro Scarlett are different, but they could have been adapted from the same basic 3D rendering. At least the eye shape and nose shape are similar enough to raise the question. Classified Scarlett obviously has a longer face and more prominent chin and cheekbones with thinner lips, while Retro Scarlett has wider smoother cheekbones, shorter face, and fuller lips. I'll leave eyebrows out of this discussion because it hard to see the sculpt beneath the paint. There's enough that is different that one could argue that the similarities are coincidental. For me, however, this little experiment strengthens my suspicion that most if not all of the new sculpts in the Retro line may be borrowed from other projects, primarily shrunk from designs from the Classified line. Doubtful that anyone has or will be specifically assigned to design sculpts for the Retro line exclusively that weren't originally designed for other projects. Not surprising if true, based on what we've seen in a primarily repack-driven line. There is also the possibility that some new sculpts we see in Retro may end up being unique to the Retro line, but only if they never see the light of day in 1:12 scale or other cancelled project they were probably designed for. I for one am grateful for ANY new sculpts in 1:18 scale and will celebrate the good ones we get. |

Playing with RB's facial hair digitally before I get him in hand.
LEFT: untouched original Hasbro image MIDDLE: easiest fix (steady hand required) is to take a toothpick soaked in alcohol and scrub off parts of the beard, leaving a goatee. Fine sandpaper might be preferred. Then buff to get the shine back. RIGHT: The '84 look - a little thicker moustache with the "soulpatch" part. Ahh, that's better! BELOW: '84 Roadblock had a very square jaw, so I've removed some of the chin. Still not as square as the original, but when I get him in hand, I think this is the look I'll go for: |
